Job Duties
The primary responsibility of a crew scheduler is to coordinate flight and ground crews in an effort to keep operations fully staffed and flights on time. The scheduler must take into account a variety of factors when making a schedule and must be able to make decisions under stressful conditions. Schedule adjustments must be made when flights are delayed for any reason and schedulers must also consider seniority and time-off requests.
Job Qualifications
Strong communication and organizational skills are a must for crew schedule coordinators. A high school diploma is essential, while a bachelor’s degree may be required in some circumstances. Most airlines also require that applicants be at least 18 years of age.
Salary & Compensation
On average, an airline crew schedule coordinator earns between $18.00 and $20.00 an hour. Starting pay for crew schedule coordinators may range from $10.00 to $16.00 per hour.
