Job Duties
The primary function of a frequent flyer agent is to interact with airline frequent flyer clients and answer any questions potential clients might have about the program. Representatives do most of their customer interaction on the phone and must be polite and helpful. Frequent flyer agents assist clients in all aspects of the frequent flyer program, including signing up new members and redeeming points.
Job Qualifications
Frequent flyer representative is an entry-level position and most airlines require that applicants be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma. Good interpersonal skills and a friendly personality are important attributes of a successful frequent flyer agent. Basic training may be provided by the airline, although on the job experience is the best way to develop customer service skills. Previous experience interacting with customers is an advantage in the hiring process.
Salary & Compensation
The average starting wage for an airline frequent flyer agent ranges from $8.00 to $12.00 an hour. On average, a frequent flyer agent earns between $14.00 and $15.00 per hour. Pay rates may vary depending on customer service experience, airline of employment, and location. Top-paying frequent flyer agent jobs offer $18.00 an hour or more. Frequent flyer agents may receive work benefits, including 401(k) retirement plans, healthcare coverage, and life insurance.
