Air Force Mechanical Job

A number of Air Force jobs are available to those interested in mechanical employment. Included under this banner are Air Force jobs relating to the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment like weapons, aircraft, and other vehicles.

Job Duties
Recruits interested in mechanical work are able to select one of many career paths with the U.S. Air Force. An employee of the Air Force with mechanical skills could become an aerial gunner, helicopter maintenance worker, or specialize in a particular area like fuels, electrical systems, and heating ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Dozens of mechanical jobs are available to Air Force recruits depending on interest and aptitude. Mechanical experience gained through service in the U.S. Air Force will directly apply to the private job market. Air Force veterans will be qualified to work as an aircraft mechanic or even an auto mechanic after completion of service.

Mechanical workers in the Air Force will gain a basic understanding of blueprints and other mechanical diagrams. Training courses will be provided to new recruits on engine disassembly and repair. These employees of the Air Force will learn how to operate, fix, and maintain aircraft, other vehicles, weapons, and many different kinds of equipment. Recruits will be able to select their specialization during the Air Force application process. If this is the job for you, apply online to join the Air Force or consult with a recruiter to learn about specific mechanical opportunities with the United States Air Force.

Job Qualifications and Compensation
For employment consideration with the United States Air Force, you must meet the general requirements pertaining to age, citizenship, education, aptitude, health, and criminal history. The Air Force is hiring all capable applicants who meet those general qualifications. To qualify for mechanical work with the Air Force, applicants must receive satisfactory scores on the following sections of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test: mechanical comprehension, general science, and auto & shop information. Only an interest and basic mechanical aptitude are required to specify a mechanical Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC). The Air Force will provide mechanical training to all competent recruits.

Compensation for Air Force jobs will depend on rank and number of years served. Employees of the U.S. Air Force receive competitive pay and benefits packages containing a number of financial and health perks. Even entry-level workers in the Air Force are eligible for benefits on top of regular salary.
