Army Mechanical Maintenance Job

There are many Army jobs available for those interested in mechanical maintenance. Training is available for recruits to work on tanks, aircraft, Humvees, and other motorized vehicles.

Job Duties
A mechanically-minded recruit is able to choose one of many career paths with the U.S. Army. A mechanical employee of the Army could become a construction equipment repairer, a fuel and electrical systems repair technician, railway equipment repairer, or even a watercraft engineer. Dozens of mechanical jobs are available to Army recruits depending on expertise, training, and interest. Mechanical experience gained through Army service is directly applicable to the private job market. Veterans may be able to find work as auto or airplane mechanics after completion of service.

Mechanical maintenance recruits in the Army will learn how to read and use blueprints and other diagrams. Training may also be provided on engine disassembly and repair. Mechanical workers will learn how to operate, fix, and maintain vehicles, weapons, and other equipment. New recruits will be able to choose their area of interest during the Army application process. Job Qualifications and Compensation
For employment consideration with the U.S. Army, you must meet basic qualifications in terms of age, citizenship, education, health, and criminal history. Any able-bodied adult can fill out an application to join the Army so long as those basic requirements are met. In order to obtain a job in the mechanical maintenance division of the Army, applicants must obtain satisfactory scores on the following sections of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test: numerical operations, auto and shop information, mechanical comprehension, and electronics information. Only minimal knowledge and skills are required to begin a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) in mechanical maintenance. The Army will provide additional mechanical training to suitable recruits.
