Army Surveillance Job

If you have a passion for communicating clearly and effectively or watching enemy movements like a hawk, then working in the surveillance and communications arm of the Army could be right for you. A ton of different jobs are available, and each one has the potential to rank up to an even more well-paying position.

Job Duties
As a part of the Army, there are a lot of different types of jobs available to you, even in a single set of job types. Working in surveillance and communication will put you in one of the most critical positions in the military. Your job will be to make sure there is accurate information about weather, troop movements, shipments, and more delivered to central command and your unit to ensure each mission goes as smoothly as possible.

A lot of different job types are available under the heading of surveillance and communications. Just like the rest of the Army, job duties in this subsection vary based on the specific job title. Still, there are a couple of titles that may give applicants and potential recruits an idea of what working in this field is like. Examples of jobs in surveillance and communications include field radar operators, cable systems installer, network switching systems operator, and even operating a UAV. Although these are some examples, there are many more, and job duties for all positions typically rest with superior officers and combat conditions.

Job Qualifications and Compensation
Beyond the basic age and physical fitness requirements the Army has, there are a few more things you’ll need to pass working in any capacity for surveillance and communications. After being recruited, you’ll need to take the ASVAB and score well in reading comprehension, arithmetic knowledge, auto and shop knowledge, and mechanical comprehension. Once you’re finished with that, you’ll need to make it through basic training. After basic, there is another set of training for your MOS that can take anywhere from a couple weeks to several months, but the Army pays for all of it.

Being employed as a member of the United States Army means more than just a well-paying job. Working in the military gains you valuable experience for when you come back from active duty and can be substituted for equal experience in the workforce or in college. The Army will even pay off a portion of any student loans you might have and offer full healthcare coverage. Although pay varies by rank and years served, there’s still a great payday just around the way when you enlist today. You can even apply online to take the ASVAB or speak with a recruiter right now.
