Coast Guard Deck and Weapons Job

The U.S. Coast Guard is hiring deck and weapons sailors all the time. New hires, or recruits, are needed to fill deck and weapons positions around the U.S. now. Deck and weapons sailors perform a variety of duties, including law enforcement, gun and missile systems operation, and telecommunications equipment operation. New Coast Guard hires, or recruits, must earn good scores on the military career test, or ASVAB, sections pertaining to deck and weapons to receive training for these positions.

Job Duties
Deck and weapons Coast Guard workers must perform all the duties assigned by their commanding officer and follow the chain of command. The most important duty of deck and weapons government employees of the U.S. Coast Guard is to carry out orders. Entry-level Coast Guard recruits with quality ASVAB test scores will receive training as deck and weapons workers. Available USCG deck and weapons careers include intelligence specialist, gunner’s mate, maritime law enforcement specialist, and operations specialist.

The job duties assigned a U.S. Coast Guard worker differ depending on title and training. Work may include the operation of small boats, overseeing cargo stores, providing security, operating and maintaining missile, rocket, and gun systems, utilizing telecommunication equipment, and collecting and interpreting intelligence. All USCG workers receive similar combat training, but specialized career training is decided with ASVAB test scores. Do not associate the Coast Guard with safe and easy work compared to other branches of the U.S. military. Each member of the USCG performs an important duty and helps ensure the safety of the American coastlines.

Job Qualifications and Compensation
U.S. Coast Guard applicants must meet the military’s guidelines for age, citizenship, health, criminal record, and education in order to receive employment consideration. Once recruited, Coast Guard workers take the ASVAB to help steer them toward a suitable career. USCG government employees must earn good scores in many different areas of the ASVAB test, but most deck and weapons workers need high marks in verbal expression and arithmetic reasoning.

Coast Guard pay scales differ depending on rank and time served, but entry-level Coast Guard employees earn competitive salary and benefits packages for patrolling the American coast. USCG workers receive healthcare, government retirement plans, food, lodging, vacation, and more. Start your nautical career by filling out a Coast Guard application and talking with a recruiter. Apply online with the USCG and work toward earning the salary and benefits befitting a hero.
