Marine Corps Clerical Job

Like any business or organization, the Marine Corps is in constant need of clerical workers to fill entry-level administrative positions in offices and on bases around the world. Clerical employment with the Marines is similar to most office work, but these associates of the Marine Corps are still in the fight to protect American freedom.

Job Duties
New recruits in the Marine Corps have the option of selecting a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) during the Marines application process. Depending on Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test scores, a recruit may have a variety of employment options. If you’re interested and suited for clerical work in the Marines, there are a number of career opportunities at your disposal. After signing up and completing boot camp, training begins toward a recruit’s desired MOS. Some examples of a clerical MOS in the Marines include administrative clerk, personnel clerk, finance technician, and training management specialist.

The job duties of a clerical worker with the Marine Corps may include completing paperwork, recordkeeping, filing, communicating with other servicemen, and, most importantly, following the chain of command. A clerical job in the Marines will prepare military employees for employment in the private sector. Veterans of the Marine Corps with clerical experience will be qualified to apply for administrative management positions and many other office jobs after completion of service. If interested in a clerical position, apply online to join the Marines or consult a Marine Corps recruiter to learn about specific clerical opportunities with the United States Marine Corps.

Job Qualifications and Compensation
Beyond the basic requirements for joining the Marines concerning age, citizenship, education, health, and criminal background, Marine Corps recruits must pass the ASVAB test to begin training toward a specific MOS. Applicants must obtain passing scores on certain sections of the ASVAB test in order to obtain various clerical Military Occupational Specialties in the Marines. An interest in administrative work and satisfactory ASVAB scores are all that you need to pursue a clerical MOS in the Marine Corps. Once accepted, the Marine Corps will provide any necessary clerical training to new recruits.

Compensation in the Marines varies by rank and years of service. Employees of the Marine Corps receive competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package containing a variety of financial and healthcare perks. Even entry-level workers in the Marine Corps are eligible to receive these benefits on top of regular salary.
