National Guard Maintenance Job

The National Guard is hiring entry-level maintenance workers for a variety of positions. National Guard new hires, or recruits, skilled in maintaining a variety of equipment may find work with the Guard maintenance division. Soldiers performing maintenance duties may need to fix small electric generators or even ensure the safe working of missile deployment devices. New National Guardsmen must take the military career test, or ASVAB, to determine the appropriate career path.

Job Duties
Maintenance National Guard troops must perform the duties assigned them by a commanding officer and follow the chain of command at all times. The most important duty a National Guard soldier can do is follow orders. Entry-level recruits with appropriate maintenance test scores may find themselves training to repair any number of vehicles, devices, or armaments, including generators, airplanes, and tanks.

The job duties a National Guard maintenance troop performs will differ based on title and training. Work may include repairing field generators providing electricity, ensuring airplane systems are functioning properly, or rebuilding engines for UAVs. All Guard soldiers receive combat field training, but many troops earn specialized training with good ASVAB scores. Do not associate the Guard with easy work done mostly on American soil. Each Guard soldier performs a necessary task whether stationed at home or fighting on the front line.

Job Qualifications and Compensation
U.S. National Guard applicants must meet Uncle Sam’s criteria for education, criminal record, age, health, and citizenship for employment consideration. Once recruited, Guardsmen must take the ASVAB test and earn appropriate scores to begin military careers in their chosen field. Guard government employees must earn good scores in several areas of the ASVAB test, but maintenance workers must strive for high scores in the mathematics knowledge, mechanical knowledge, and electronics test areas.

National Guard pay rates differ according to rank and time served, but entry-level recruits do receive competitive salary and benefits packages. Guard troops receive healthcare, lodging, food, retirement packages, paid vacation, and more. Begin your maintenance career with the National Guard by filling out an application and speaking with a Guard recruitment officer. Apply online today and start earning the heroic pay and benefits befitting a U.S. soldier.
