Navy Skilled Technical Job

The U.S. Navy needs entry-level workers for skilled technical positions. Sailors are needed to perform technical work in the fields of electronics, nuclear power, coding, signals, and much more. New Navy recruits, or new hires, must earn appropriate ASVAB test scores to receive training in skilled technical careers with the Navy.

Job Duties
Skilled technical Navy workers typically work behind the scenes in a variety of roles to ensure equipment runs smoothly, codes are decoded, torpedoes are fired, missile systems work functionally, and much more. Skilled technical Navy workers often have prior experience or education, but Uncle Sam provides training and education for promising entry-level candidates, as well. Available careers may include cryptologic technician, dental technician, electronic warfare technician, machinists, missile technician, sonar technician, as well as many more. The most important duty a skilled technical Navy worker performs is following orders and the chain of command at all times.

The job duties assigned a Navy skilled technical employee will differ depending on training and need. Skilled technical workers in the Navy must follow the orders of their commanding officer and perform the duties assigned them. Duties could range from encrypting and decoding friendly and enemy messages to ensuring the dental health of other sailors. Skilled technical workers may need to train for duties outside their field of expertise, as well. Do not associate peaceful times with unimportant jobs. The Navy patrols local and hostile waters around the globe, and the duties of each sailor are important whether at home or abroad.

Job Qualifications and Compensation
U.S. Navy applicants must meet certain criteria for age, citizenship, health, criminal record, and education to receive employment consideration. Navy sailors must also perform admirably on parts of the military career test, or ASVAB, pertaining to the field desired. New Navy recruits must perform admirable on several different sections of the test, but not all careers need the same scores. Most skilled technical Navy careers require good ASVAB scores in verbal expression and arithmetic reasoning, but some need high scores in areas such as coding speed and electronics information.

The pay scales in the Navy differ according to rank and years served but not occupation. Entry-level Navy sailors earn competitive salary and benefits packages, though. As with all brances of the U.S. military, U.S. Navy recruits receive healthcare, food, lodging, paid vacation, and more. Fill out an application with the Navy and start working toward the skilled technical career of your dreams. Apply online with the U.S. Navy to begin earning the competitive salary and benefits you deserve.
