Post Military Jobs Application

Job opportunities exist for transitioning veterans.

Former members of the U.S. military earned outstanding training for the civilian workforce. Skills gained in military service easily translate to virtually any career, but some jobs seem to better fit military personnel transitioning to civilian jobs. Several career paths work well for job seekers possessing a military background.

Law Enforcement
Police officer, SWAT, and state trooper all represent common careers for former military personal. Police departments, for good reason, notoriously favor candidates with military backgrounds. Police officers and soldiers share the same core values of honor and integrity. In addition, the organizational structure of a police department almost mirrors military structure.

With a wide range of different positions in law enforcement, the job offers an ideal choice for veterans with a military background. Additional law enforcement opportunities include motorcycle patrol, bomb dog handler, mounted and bicycle patrol, internal operations, and ATF. After serving the U.S., many veterans return with a burning desire to serve the community. A career in law enforcement often provides the perfect career step to a veteran leaving the military.

Defense Contractor
Defense contractor jobs offer extremely military-friendly working conditions. Most civilian contractors working on a military base once worked in the military. Defense contractor employers look for contractors possessing knowledge of military lingo, sharing a similar can-do military attitude, and ably adapting to a structured military environment. A former soldier retaining his or her security clearance may find a defense contractor position easily. Harris Corp. and Lockheed-Martin represent just two of several military contracting companies eager to hire military veterans.

Information Technology
The military utilizes cutting edge technology, and most former soldiers worked with technology in some aspect. Former military personnel may possess hands-on IT experience, an excellent resume builder. Experience may include developing Excel spreadsheets, designing a LAN, or programming a computer application. Companies in the current job market seek associates with high technology aptitude. Tech experience in the military helps job seekers impress an employer.

Information technology exists as one of the fastest growing occupations in the United States. Companies continue to look for technology savvy leaders able to help businesses grow. Any former military job seeker with technology experience should check into available IT industry jobs today.

Education
Former military personnel often make wonderful teachers. Veterans and other former soldiers understand the importance of maintaining order and instilling pride in others. Physical education and coaching positions make appropriate choices for any veteran, due to military boot camp training and exercise regimens. Former military personnel with technical or logistics training may even leverage military skills into a job teaching math or science.

Entrepreneurship
A wide variety of opportunities exist for veterans and former servicemen and women looking to start a business. An entrepreneur may found a company, buy a franchise, or participate as a partner in a startup. Opening a small business helps former military personnel looking to remain outside corporate structure. Soldiers often possess the skill necessary to survive in the competitive business market. In addition, the government offers various assistance programs to veterans and former military personnel interested in entrepreneurship.

Choosing what business to start represents a daunting yet exciting endeavor. Some business ideas fitting to a veteran include residential outdoor survival training, security consulting, gunsmith work, firearms training, disaster planning and preparation contracting, and self-defense training.

Other Career Path Tips
These job ideas offer a jumping off point for post-military job hunters. The suggestions offer a generalized idea of what jobs a former military serviceman or woman may obtain. Every veteran possesses unique skills specific to the military, and these workers should apply for jobs matching these skills. For example, a military cryptologic technician possesses a niche skillset able to open up additional job opportunities in computer programing or linguistics. Every post-military job hunter should look at a particular military job and discover what unique skills the job imparted.

Nearly 2,000 military staffing agencies exist in the United States. These recruiters and employment agencies specialize in assisting exiting military members seeking specialized careers. Some agencies also provide general transition assistance for military to civilian job hunters. Noteworthy ex-military staffing agencies include RecruitMilitary, Orion International, and Bradley-Morris. For further career help, veterans should contact a local Tap office.

HaHaHa No you can not apply to the U.S. military online. You must seek a Military Recruiter. Their is also vast security clearances and screenings that you will have to go through. But, you can get your U.S. citizenship through the military. It is the easiest. Good Luck
