History
Barnes & Noble began in 1873 when founder Chris Barnes opened his first book-printing business in the town of Wheaton, Illinois. After partnering with fellow businessman G. Clifford Noble, the two opened a bookstore in New York City in 1917. Originally located on W. 15th St., Barnes and Noble moved to Fifth Avenue in 1932.
