The Converse application process, the best way to get on the court of retail sports footwear, is available online.
Converse first opened its doors under the watchful eye of Marquis Mills Converse in 1908. Founded in Malden, Massachusetts, Converse corporate headquarters sit in nearby North Andover today. Originally the Converse Rubber Shoe Company, Converse didn’t begin manufacturing sporting shoes until 1915. The company began with athletic shoes for tennis, but started producing Converse All-Star basketball shoes in 1917. Basketball pro Charles “Chuck” Taylor began working with Converse to both promote and sell his signature brand in 1921. Taylor worked for Converse until his death in 1969.
Converse operated a near-monopoly until a surge of competitors arrived in the 1970s. Converse triumphantly returned and led to Nike’s purchasing of the company for $305 million in 2003. Today Converse operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Nike. The first Converse retail store opened in 2010, but the company also operates several outlet stores across the United States.
If the fast-paced world of athletic footwear appeals to you, Converse may have the perfect job. With stores across the country, Converse is always looking to hire entry-level and professional retail employees. Converse applicants must be legally able to work and at least 16 years of age to be considered for employment.
Converse entry-level positions typically exist within the retail stores or at one of the Converse distribution warehouse. Retail sales associates starting with Converse must learn product information, assist customers, run register, clean, stock product, or perform other assigned duties. Warehouse workers fill orders, receive shipments, and perform a variety of behind the scenes jobs. Converse management applicants typically require experience and occasionally education to earn positions. Managers in retail and shipping oversee daily operations, hire new employees, perform scheduling and banking duties, and communicate with the corporate offices.
Converse employees receive a competitive salary, flexible scheduling, and comprehensive training. Eligible employees receive an excellent benefits package including healthcare, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off, and more. With competitive pay and quality benefits, Converse ensures their workers focus on their careers instead of worrying about an uncertain future.
Converse offers several convenient locations and a variety of positions offering both personal and professional growth to their employees. Apply online with Converse today and take that first step toward a new career in athletic footwear.

October 7th, 2010 at 4:31 pmI currently work as a keyholder at another retail store, but I’m not getting enough hours so I’ve decided to look for something else. Does Converse offer a keyholder position or any kind of position like that, that I can fill out an application for?
