Originally, the Crowne Plaza hotel chain was part of the Holiday Inn brand of hotels. Crowne Plaza was started as a more upscale alternative to Holiday Inn. The first hotel was opened in 1983 in Rockville, Maryland. Later, Crowne Plaza became an independent brand, though the chain is still owned by Holiday Inn. Since Holiday Inn was purchased by the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in 1990, so Crowne Plaza is now a subsidiary of IHG as well.
Crown Plaza hotels are located throughout the world in a number of exotic sites. International locations exist in Australia, China, Indonesia, Mexico, and sites across Europe and even Africa. In total, the Crowne Plaza chain has over 400 hotels in more than 50 countries worldwide. The hotel chain also has a hand in a number of sponsorships and other business endeavors. For example, Crowne Plaza currently sponsors Andy Priaulx, a champion driver of the FIA World Touring Car Championship.
A luxury brand owned by the InterContinental Hotels Group, Crowne Plaza employs workers in a number of capacities. As with any company this large, Crowne Plaza is always looking to hire new people to staff hotels around the world. Many of the positions available with the chain are entry level and do not require any prior work experience.
