History
Founder John Fremont McCullough introduced soft serve ice cream to the world in 1938. In 1940, due to the success of the new dairy dessert treat, McCullough opened the first Dairy Queen location in Joliet, Illinois. Dairy Queen opened 10 stores that first year and by 1947 operated 100 DQ store locations. The first international DQ location opened in Canada in 1953. Continuing to see rapid growth throughout the 1950s and 60s, Dairy Queen formed International Dairy Queen Inc. in 1962 before Berkshire Hathaway acquired the business in 1998.
Menu
Dairy Queen operates dine-in and carry-out style restaurants. Aside from world-famous soft serve ice cream creations, DQ also serves a wide variety of American cuisine, including hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, and French fries. Dairy Queens sells a wide variety of cakes, including its signature ice cream cakes. Guests enjoy DQ soft serve in bowls, sugar cones, waffle cones, and traditional desserts, like banana splits and milkshakes.
Community Involvement
An active member of the community, DQ strives to make a difference and to enrich the lives of customers. A sponsor of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1984, Dairy Queen helps generate funds and awareness to aid sick and injured children in 170 major hospitals throughout North America. Such DQ charitable efforts reach millions of children every year and play a major role in the provision of pediatric care.
Environmental
Dairy Queen strives to follow environmentally sound business practices. Many DQ stores implement recycling programs and energy saving techniques, such as conserving electricity and reducing water consumption. Dairy Queen franchises also focus on the amount of refuse produced and work to limit waste production. Many DQ stores also utilize packaging products made of recycled materials.
International
After finding initial success in the United States, Dairy Queen expanded into the Canadian market in 1953. Dairy Queen later moved overseas and operated more than 5,900 store locations worldwide by 2010. DQ stores exist in 20 countries throughout the world, including stores in China, Cambodia, Gabon, Indonesia, Singapore, Panama, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Ukraine, and the United Arab Emirates.

I am so interested in working at Dairy Queen. I think it would be so neat to learn how to make those delicious ice cream cakes. I am in college however so I have little time to work. does Dairy Queen offer flexible schedules? I am going to fill out an application for Dairy Queen either way!
I love Dairy Queen, I’ve been a shift leader there for 7 years. It’s a really calm environment to work and there’s so many flavors of ice cream! My younger niece who is 17 just got a job there! I’m sure a lot of you can get hired in, it’s entry-level for anyone who’s a hard worker!
I’m sitting on their website doing a cycle.
You go to their ‘careers’ page, and it tells you to go to their store locator because all their franchises have different print out applications.
So, I type in my zip code. The Dairy Queen near me, that is currently hiring and out of applications at the site, whose employees told me to go to the website to find their application is listed.
But their specific branch’s site is void of any application what so ever.
I am a mere 17 year old looking for a part-time job, and I’ve been searching their site for a half-an-hour. Please help.
