I work at DQ & I love it! I had actually worked at another DQ a few years ago, & while I really enjoyed working there, the owner of that particular store was not so great. The woman I work for now is fantastic! Each store is different: pay rates & benefits depend on the owners/operators & what position you hold. (as for my understanding, anyway.) I was recently promoted to shift leader & was given a considerable raise. I was also offered health insurance benefits. (However, I am having some difficulty figuring out how to apply for them through DQ, which is how I stumbled upon this site.) Before I was promoted, I received a 50% discount on my meals while working & one free DQ cake per year. Now, I get free meals during my shift & the free cake & medical insurance – if I ever figure it out! (Again, I believe everything depends on each individual owner, & of course, the quality of your work performance. There aren’t set pay rates, discounts, benefits, etc.) Even break times & if you get paid breaks or not depend on your store’s owner (& probably your state’s laws). As for my DQ employment experience, this time around has been great! Not only my boss, but the crew I work with is fantastic! I am 32 years old & am proud to be part of my DQ crew!
I love Dairy Queen and I am thinking about applying there. I would like to know what types of benefits are offered. Do they offer their employees any paid vacation days?

September 8th, 2011 at 6:55 pmI work for Dairy Queen, and I cannot even call off work if I am ill. Our policy is, if you cannot find a replacement for your shift, you must come in or risk termination. I have worked there whilst ill with the flu, and pink eye.
