GEICO, or the Government Employees Insurance Company, is an insurance industry giant that was founded in 1936. Although GEICO insures more than 9 million drivers throughout the United States, the company also offers a wide range of other insurance policies, including boat, house, life, flood, and all-encompassing insurance plans. GEICO competes with companies like State Farm, American Mutual, Liberty, Allstate, and Progressive. Their familiar commercials feature both cavemen and a nameless gecko. GEICO is quickly approaching sales of $10 billion a year and has almost 25,000 workers and associates in its employ. Company headquarters can be found in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
While GEICO’s little lizard is a giant in automotive insurance, the company itself is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. Throughout its diverse sales empire, Berkshire employs around 220,000 workers and has around 70 different brand names and subsidiary partners through which it conducts business. Other recognizable names owned by Hathaway include Dairy Queen, Fruit of the Loom, and Helzberg Diamonds. Berkshire Hathaway earns in excess of $100 billion annually and is publically traded on the NYSE under the call sign BRK.A.
Ever wanted to work with that little lizard? Many of us are familiar with the cavemen commercials and gecko telling us about saving 15% or more with car, boat, truck, and motorcycle insurance. The GEICO gecko may only be a mascot, but the deals are anything but fictional. So what kind of employment opportunities might be waiting for interested applicants who are at least 18 years old on the other side of the internet?
As with many insurance companies, GEICO is always hiring for positions in sales as well as in information technology. Jobs working for GEICO are typical of many larger companies. One of the standard positions within GEICO’s hierarchy is the job of an insurance sales person. Their corporation needs more than just sales employees to function, though.
GEICO also hires in their large legal and marketing divisions. For applicants seeking entry-level GEICO jobs, fear not. The employer even offers part-time positions to those applicants who are 18 or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Due to GEICO’s commitment to providing excellent service, the agency does require the applicant to take a pre-employment test. More information on this can be found when you apply online for jobs at GEICO.
Once you land your job, GEICO’s paid training is the least of your bountiful benefits. Along with excellent pay scales, their total rewards program offers a variety of perks ranging from family life programs and a 401(k) to profit sharing. Furthermore, workers will also be eligible for comprehensive health care, automotive insurance, time off, and paid leave.
If you’re looking to get a gig with the gecko, then you’re in the right place. When employed with GEICO, you’ll be working for a billion dollar business with tons of job security and advancement opportunities. Even if your chosen career track isn’t available immediately, jobs and careers are opening up daily, so be sure to check back. GEICO doesn’t provide a printable application, but applying online is so easy a cave- well, you know the rest. Take care of the GEICO job application today and add a little insurance to your future.

I want to fill out an application for Geico but I also want to make sure I’ll be able to request time off when I need it. How flexible are they with allowing employees to take time off? I think I am going to fill out an application for Geico and hope for the best.
January 26th, 2011 at 3:46 pmI would like to be a Sales Representative for Geico, I actually loved switching to them after years of paying $68 or more for Car Insurance, I switched to Geico because I found out their rate for me was only $35 a month. That’s what I’m currently paying and I think I’d be a good Sales Person here. I’m applying online now!
May 24th, 2011 at 1:22 pmI live in North Olmsted. Would GEICO still hire me even if I don’t have a car? I still have reliable transportation, sometimes the city bus and sometimes a friend will take me to work. Would they still hire me?
