Job Duties
What Are the Responsibilities of a Grocery Store Stock Clerk?
Key responsibilities for stock clerks include managing inventory and stocking shelves. Managing inventory requires checking product levels, examining expiration dates, and rotating goods. Stocking shelves consists of replenishing, fronting, and straightening products on the shelves. Stock clerks may also set up new product displays. In addition to working on the sales floor, stock clerks perform a number of functions in the delivery area. Back room responsibilities may include unloading incoming shipments, moving pallets, unboxing products, and price labeling merchandise. Considering the physical labor involved with stocker jobs, stock clerks must learn and follow all company safety policies and state health and safety regulations. On occasion, stock clerks may assist customers on the sales floor.

Successful stock clerks demonstrate attention to detail, problem solving skills, and the ability to take direction. Stock clerks must also possess the ability to stand, walk, bend down, push jacks and dollies, lift and carry hefty boxes, and perform various repetitive motions. In addition to physical abilities, stockers should possess basic reading and mathematics skills. Most grocery stores set the minimum age requirement for stock clerks at 16 years old. For entry-level jobs, most employers do not require prior work experience, although many supermarkets prefer some experience. Employers may also prefer stock clerks who possess a high school diploma or GED; however, most grocery stores do not set educational requirements for stocking jobs.

I WOULD LIKE A JOB AND I AIN SEARCH FOR ONE BUT HAVENT FIND ONE YET AND IM 14 YEAR OLD

I have filled out alot of applications on line for different positions and I have not heard a response yet . Here’s hoping that I hear something soon I hope . I guess I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed and wait.
