History
Six friends and career businessmen created the first Hooters in Clearwater, FL, in 1983. One year later, the company sold expansion and franchise rights to investors in Atlanta, GA. Over the next few years, the chain rapidly gained popularity and restaurants began opening across the U.S. By 1996, the chain generated over $300 million in revenue. In 2006, Hooters opened Hooters Casino Hotel in Las Vegas. The 700 room hotel offers a casual and relaxing hotel experience with exceptional service provided by Hooters Girls.
Menu and Services
Hooters operates a chain of casual restaurants with attractive young women as waitresses. Waitresses, also known as Hooters Girls, wear the signature hooters uniform: orange shorts, a white Hooters tank top, white socks, and solid white shoes. Hooters girls work to provide a comfortable, entertaining dining experience. The Hooters menu offers appetizers, hamburgers, sandwiches, wraps, steaks, seafood, and most notably, chicken wings. Hooters sells a wide selection of beer and wine, as well. In addition to food and drink, Hooters offers a full line of brand merchandise. Hooters merchandise includes T-shirts, sweatshirts, and gift items.
Community Involvement
Reaching out to the communities it operates in, Hooters supports several charity efforts both locally and nationally. The company created The Hooters Community Endowment Fund to raise money for charities across the country. Recipients of the fund include Make-A-Wish Foundation, U.S.O., Special Olympics, American Diabetes Association, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and Muscular Dystrophy Association. In addition, Hooters and Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research organize an annual fundraiser to support breast cancer research. Hooters also works with Operation Homefront to help support the families of military servicemen though The Valentine Fun.
Environmental
In 2010, during a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Hooters heard the call to environmental action. Hooters created Project Pantyhose, and the initiative collected more than 100,000 pairs of hosiery from employees and customers. Hooters shipped the donated pantyhose to Matter of Trust and Indigo Ocean. The ecological charities stuffed the hosiery with fur and fleece to create booms. The charities then shipped the booms to the oil spill site to help collect oil from the water. The booms absorbed an estimated half-million gallons of oil.

I used to work at Hooters as a Hostess, when I was 17. You wear a different uniform, black scoop neck and khaki shorts, nylons, and shoes. It’s really fun to work at and it’s really fun to be able to talk to the customers. You meet different people and for $8.00 to basically just have fun everyday, it’s great.
My friend is a Hooters girl and she makes such great tips. I’m definitely trying to fill out an application!! Is there a way that I can put her down as a reference on my application?
