Job Interview Question & Answer: Can You, Upon Being Hired, Provide Proof of Your Age? |

|
How to Answer the Question:
Don’t lie. Most employers are going to need an identification card and social security number to fill out tax forms your first day of work. If for some reason you can offer no identification card or birth certificate upon hire, you will likely lose the position. Keep your answer short and professional.
Employers expect new employees to be open and honest with them concerning their employment legality. When an interviewee hides information or sidesteps particular questions, employers often believe they are working illegally in some capacity; however, an interviewer may ask this question during a the hiring process simply to discover your age, a question they can’t ask during an interview.
