Job Interview Question & Answer: How Long Do You Expect to Work for Us if Hired? |

How to Answer the Question:
This is the point in the job interview where you talk about how you would like to begin a career with this company. Talk about specific career goals you expect to fulfill by working for this employer in the long-term. The correct answer typically involves moving up the company ladder and retiring many years down the road. Keep this answer fairly short but prove you have considered a life-long career in the industry.
Never discuss plans to work with one company to achieve a job elsewhere in the industry at some later date during the hiring process. Interviewers usually don’t want to hire transient workers to fill jobs; instead, they want to give dedicated employees new careers. This is a simple what-if question where you should hypothesize a best-case scenario for a long-term career where you earn all the promotions and salary increases you desire.
