Job Interview Question & Answer: How Long Will It Take You to Make a Significant Contribution to This Business?

How to Answer the Question:

This is a trick question. Let interviewers know you are proud of the work you do and will contribute positively to the company immediately. Show your enthusiasm at the chance to help the company improve. Talk about your strong business qualities during this part of the job interview. Use broad terms and inclusive future tense language to make the interviewer associate you as a team member early in the hiring process.

Do not discuss specific ways you plan to change the way the company operates during a job interview. Do not talk about ways you see the company failing. Do not distance yourself by admitting you hadn’t thought of this question. Avoid good ideas or offering solutions during the job interview; save those plans to assist your move up the corporate ladder once you have the job.

When I get asked this question I never really know what I say. Should I tell them as soon as I can? I mean what exactly do they want to hear you say when asked this question?
