Job Interview Question & Answer: When Do You Expect A Promotion? |

|
How to Answer the Question:
This is a trick question. The interviewer may ask this question if you are overqualified for the position. If the employer is looking for a long-term commitment in a specific position, they don’t want to hear that you plan to advance quickly because you may be unsatisfied or are only applying to get your foot in the door. Instead, carefully consider your response to this type of question during the job interview.
To give the interviewer an answer that will help you out during the hiring process, try to be humble without underselling yourself. You should say that you expect a promotion when there is an opening and you have earned it. It’s all right to be vague here, but consider a response if they ask how you intend to earn the promotion. A good answer would be that you have worked hard for the company and successfully proven yourself in a leadership role.
