How to Answer the Question:
This question is where that resume you slaved over comes in handy. Talk about your previous experience, and any other relevant instances in your life that have helped prepare you for the position you’re interviewing for. A job interview is the chance for you to show them what you’ve got. Don’t hold back if you think it’s relevant to the position you’ve applied for.
The hiring process involves a lot of backstory about where you’ve been, what you’ve done, and more specifically, how this is going to help you get to where you’re trying to go. While it doesn’t take a lot of fluff or a complete re-telling of your life, this response does require you to highlight certain aspects of your past that have prepared you for the position you desire. Keep your examples professionally relevant and try to have fun. After all, it’s a question, not an inquisition.
