Ha, here’s the truth they don’t tell you.
I used to work for KFC. First of all, never get hurt on the job, yeah, they’ll pay your medical bill, but the moment it comes time to return to work, you’ll get one day a week, pending that, you get fired. It’s because you’re considered a “Risk” to them. Also, KFC doesn’t have hazardous substance equipment, this is what happened to me. While working with corrosive chemicals, I was exposed, had to be rushed to the hospital treated for 2nd degree burns, released, and when it came time to return to work, my boss only gave me one day a week on the schedule, and then he fired me. Immediately after sustaining an injury.
Oh yeah, you can forget trying to sue either, it’s owned by Yum Food Group, there’s a reason you never hear about KFC getting sued. Now these benefits you supposedly talking about here, they’re not for you. Employees don’t get crap. These benefits are for the managers, eg. Shift Supervisors, Assistant Managers, and General Manages. Oh yes, let’s not forget about the ABSOLUTELY ZERO JOB SECURITY. Here’s the fact, it’s KFC. They don’t want to pay you full time insurance, the goals of the fast food service are the following:
1. Maximize profits
2. Get the most out of employees while paying them as little as possible.
3. Utilizing the “Right-On-Time” Economic Policy
4. Minimum Wage until Promotion
Oh yes and for those of you who LOVE KFC, let’s talk about your benefits. If you think you get a menu-wide employee discount, you’re wrong. It’s select items. 2 Piece Meal, snacker, 3 piece strips, and hot wings. Anything else you have to pay full price for. So if you thought you could go to KFC and bring home the family an entire meal at a discounted price? – Think Again.
If you counter what I’m telling your right now, let me tell you something about myself, I’ve been in the food business for roughly 10 years. Taco Bell, McDonalds, KFC, Wendys. If you want a good job, as much as it surprises you, avoid KFC, Taco Bell is much better, or, even better, McDonald’s. They offer a benefits package at low cost to employees. So if you want to make it on the food business, here’s what I recommend. Work at McDonald’s as your first job. Here, you’re going to get the benefits, get as much as possible. You will have to pay for them, there’s no doubt about it. But then you can get a second job at a Taco Bell or something. Taco Bell pays good money, and they never start at minimum wage. It’s usually .25 cents over or something. This will be your main paycheck. I’ve been doing it for quite some time, and I’m doing quite well for myself right now.
I would love to work at Kentucky Fried Chicken and learn how to make some good chicken. I do need a good benefits package however. Does Kentucky Fried Chicken offer their employees any health insurance? That would definitely would be a huge added bonus!
