Founded in 1909, Radisson Hotels began in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The hotel was named for a French explorer from the 1600s named Pierre-Esprit Radisson. In 1962, Curt Carlson bought the Radisson chain and, to this day, Carlson Companies retains ownership of Radisson. While most of the properties are situated in the United States, Radisson does have a worldwide presence. Radisson Blu is the name the company uses internationally. They have hotels in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Another chain of hotels called Radisson Edwardian operates in the United Kingdom. All of Radisson’s brands operate under the parent company, Carlson, which also owns T.G.I. Friday’s, Park Inn, and Country Inn & Suites.
Today, the company is headed by Hubert Joly, President, CEO, and director of Carlson. While Radisson’s headquarters are in Minnetonka, MN, Carlson’s head office is in Plymouth, Minnesota. Radisson has 420 properties in the United States and 158 hotels on foreign soil under the Radisson Blu label. Many more hotel sites are currently under development.
One of the main companies under Carlson’s umbrella, Radisson Hotels is an international chain offering a temporary residence to travellers, tourists, and businesspeople everywhere. With so many locations, it’s really no surprise that Radisson is looking to hire new workers all the time. Most of the positions with the hotel are entry level and require no previous work experience. On the whole, Radisson only insists that you be at least 18 years old to submit an application for employment.
Like any large chain of hotels, Radisson is always hiring in a number of areas. While there are many positions available with their corporate offices, openings also exist in hotels around the country. Radisson is looking for guest service agents, house persons, and maintenance technicians nationwide. The company is also looking for bartenders, line cooks, sous chefs, and other kitchen staff members to prepare delicious meals to provide to guests. If you have a little more experience, there are also supervisor positions overseeing areas like housekeeping and the front desk.
