An American plumbing and drain service company, Roto-Rooter was founded in the mid-1930s. As one of the oldest plumbing and drain services companies in America, Roto-Rooter has assisted business and home owners in assessing and solving their plumbing and septic issues for over 70 years.
Roto-Rooter began in 1935 after a man named Samuel Blanc created what is considered to be one of the earliest septic pumps. Roto-Rooter found early success and experienced widespread growth throughout much of the 20th century. The Blanc family sold the company in 1980 to the Cincinnati-based Chemed Corporation. Roto-Rooter became a publically-traded company 1986, but was bought back by the Chemed Corporation ten years later, who continue to own and operate Roto-Rooter today.
