Swensen’s Grill & Ice Cream is an American chain of restaurants that began as a simple ice cream parlor back in 1948. The founder, Earl Swensen, began the first store in San Francisco, California, with the idea of providing quality, quantity, and a good amount for the price. Over the years, Swensen’s has adapted to keep up with an ever-changing clientele. These days, the company is now a full sit-down restaurant and serves everything from chicken melts and gourmet salads to their famous ice cream. Today, there are Swensen’s locations in seven states and 12 countries around the world.
The Swensen’s chain is owned and operated by ABR Holdings Limited, a Singapore-based holding company that operates chains of specialty restaurants, pubs, and ice cream manufacturers. Their stock number on the Singapore stock exchange is 533 and ABR Holdings earned more than $188 million in sales last year alone. ABR also operates in a number of other sectors including wine and spirits as well as selling chocolates and other treats.
