7-Eleven Sales Associate Interview Video
Video Transcript
Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
7-Eleven Sales Associate: At 7-Eleven, I was a sales associate, and usually my duties were to handle the cashier, to stock up shelves without even the manager asking me to. They really expected that of you. Making the coffee every morning, all the food in the heated area, so the food heats up, to start up the slushee machine, manage the fountain drinks.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
7-Eleven Sales Associate: The atmosphere was pretty fast-paced, because the 7-Eleven I worked at was very busy. It was busy from the minute it opened. Actually, it was open 24 hours, and it was very group-oriented.
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
7-Eleven Sales Associate: I was referred there by a friend, and I went and picked up an application, which was like any typical application. I had an interview about a week after I turned in the application, and they asked me simple questions during the interview – if I had experience with the cashier, did I have any experience with sales and customers. They asked me a couple ethical questions about if I had seen anyone taking money away at my other jobs, what I would do, would I report them. And also, had there been any time where you had overdrawn or had less cash in the cash register than what was the plan for the day.
Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
7-Eleven Sales Associate: I had a lot of experience in customer service, even before I started working there, so I think that made me stand out. And I think the referral from my friend really helped me out.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
7-Eleven Sales Associate: At 7-Eleven, I would say someone that is really good at talking to people and doesn’t get anxiety in a really fast-paced environment. I would say to just be a very active listener and just know how to talk to people really. And how to count money really well.
