Abercrombie & Fitch Store Brand Rep: My job title was brand representative. I worked with associates and customers. I set up the shelves and racks, organized all the clothes. Occasionally I had to take pictures of them and it would send out to nationwide branches.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?

Abercrombie & Fitch Store Brand Rep: The work environment, it was very clean, friendly. Just a lot of clothes and a lot of organizing, along with the warehouse in the back.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?

Abercrombie & Fitch Store Brand Rep: I liked getting goals done and finishing tasks, so there was a lot of, like you complete one task and they give you another like, go build this closet and put the shelves in, organize it correctly and then we’ll come back to you. It felt like a good amount of accomplishment whenever I was done with the project.

Interviewer: Please describe the application and interview process.

Abercrombie & Fitch Store Brand Rep: Application process, like the other one, you apply online. I think it was through Abercrombie job finder or something like that and once they accept you, they give you a call and they invite you to the store, where they have you do an interview and then the interview questions, it was kind of like the other one. One was, give us a leadership experience that you have and I gave them one like being a lifeguard. How were you working with others? Give us a time when you had to work with others in a group setting. Are you able to follow tasks and duties? Give us a time when you were able to do something like that.

Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?

Abercrombie & Fitch Store Brand Rep: I think my leadership experience along with confidence.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?

Abercrombie & Fitch Store Brand Rep: You have to be able to work well with customers. Be able to keep your cool, of course, working with the customers in an environment like that. Be able to get along well with co-workers and follow duties.

Video Transcript

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Abercrombie & Fitch Store Merchandiser: I was actually like in-store logistics. You kind of set up the mannequins and you keep the store looking nice and neat. That was pretty much basically all I had to do – make sure the overall presentation of the store was nice.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Abercrombie & Fitch Store Merchandiser: It was very upbeat – a lot of friendly people. It goes pretty fast, as far as a workday. It’s in the mall, so there are a lot of people going in and out. It was kind of busy. There were usually a lot of people in the store at one time.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Abercrombie & Fitch Store Merchandiser: I liked being on my feet all the time. You never get bored because there’s always people coming in or going out. You get to talk to different people and kind of help them out, so it never gets boring.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Abercrombie & Fitch Store Merchandiser: For what I did, you come in, you clock in, and you just kind of see where work needs to be done. You fold if that needs to be done. If customers come in who need help, you go to assist them. So, it varies depending on how the day goes.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Abercrombie & Fitch Store Merchandiser: Actually, they had recruiters come to the University of Akron, so I was recruited. Then, I attended a group interview, and there were several other people there. They gave us a tour of the store and what everything would be like. After that, when we were hired, that’s how we knew where we would be placed at.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Abercrombie & Fitch Store Merchandiser: They gave us a series of scenarios, like what we would do, for instance, if somebody was coming in, we knew them, and they wanted us to give them a discount or steal – how would we handle the situation? They asked us questions to pretty much find out what our personalities were and how we would handle ourselves in the work environment.

Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Abercrombie & Fitch Store Merchandiser: I would like to think that I am a very outgoing person, kind of easy to interact with, so maybe that did it.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Abercrombie & Fitch Store Merchandiser: They’re very basic. They don’t want a lot of piercing and tattoos. They like a natural look. That goes for clothing, too. You can wear the Abercrombie clothes, but anything else, no labels. No earrings, no jewelry, no lipstick, and stuff like that. Basic type of look.

Abercrombie & Fitch Impact Associate Interview Video

Video Transcript

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Abercrombie & Fitch Impact Associate: I had the impact position, and I basically stocked the shelves and folded clothes and put things away and organized the backroom.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Abercrombie & Fitch Impact Associate: You’d go in and you’d scan clothing that was shipped into inventory. You’d put it on the shelves in order, and then you’d fold everything precisely and put it out on the store shelves.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Abercrombie & Fitch Impact Associate: It was a group interview and it was a simple interview. Just a few questions. Nothing intense.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Abercrombie & Fitch Impact Associate: They just asked my basic skills, my people skills, why I would be good at working there, and also any hardships I came across in a social situation and how I dealt with it.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Abercrombie & Fitch Impact Associate: I would tell them to expect having to dress exactly to their specifications every day. They’ll look you up and down and tell you what’s right and what’s wrong, and also that if you you’re looking for an exciting job, that probably isn’t the job. You’d probably want to be on the sales floor and not in the backroom because you don’t get to interact with very many people.
