Hiring process information for an interview at Aeropostale

Interview Formats and General Info

The Aeropostale hiring process often begins with a group interview. Candidates attend group interviews with up to 20 other applicants. Depending on specific store hiring needs, the retail chain may only require applicants to attend a single, 1:1 interview before gaining employment. The retailer also hires workers on-the-spot through employee referrals or due to lack of staff. Each interview session regularly spans 20 to 30 minutes. Hiring managers typically respond quickly to submitted applicant information and contact eligible candidates for interviews within a couple of days. As a result, the Aeropostale hiring process may only take a week to complete.

Attending Aeropostale Group Interviews

During instances of growing interest in working for the fashion retail chain, applicants who submit hiring documents alongside several other candidates participate in group interviews. Group interview sessions used in the Aeropostale hiring process typically serve to weed out candidates for further review. Applicants respond to general questions about customer service, fashion, and personal interests during group interviews, and based on responses, hiring personnel select the most personable and qualified individuals for interview consideration.

Moving on to One-on-One Interviews

Applicants successful in group interviews or who sidestep the need for group interviews move on to one-on-one job interviews. The Aeropostale interview process features store managers or supervisors as mediators for hiring sessions. Questions for Potential Sales Associates

Sales associates may receive questioning about sales skills or fashions. Some hiring managers may ask applicants to piece together outfits or mock-suggest clothing during the interview process.

Asserting Interest in the Job

Aeropostale frequently asks challenging interview questions or places candidates on the spot in instances of group interviews. The retail chain uses the rigid proceedings of the interview process to screen for the most qualified workers. Applicants who exude confidence and demonstrate strong, assertive, and motivated personalities contest Aeropostale interview questions better than other individuals with more regularity. Showing affinity for fashion retail and the fashion industry in general provides an excellent advantage over other workers. Managerial positions push the hiring process further with multiple interviews necessary for employment consideration and the same rigidity of interview questions used.

Dress in Aeropostale Clothing

Despite the competitive nature of the Aeropostale hiring process, most applicants complete all required phases within a week or two, at most. Serious candidates should consider wearing Aeropostale clothing throughout the interview process. Doing so demonstrate a love of the brand and an understanding of products sold, especially if applicants possess excellent taste. Hiring decisions typically take place during the final job interview; however, some applicants receive job offers via email or over the telephone a few days after the last session ends.

Video Transcript

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Aeropostale Employee: That would be sales associate and cashier. Basically, all I do is go around, restock the shelves, get peoples’ payments on the items they want, and just reorganize the store whenever need be.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Aeropostale Employee: It was very relaxed. We had a lot of jokes. Everyone had on a walkie talkie, so if someone came in the store that was off the wall, we’d have little jokes over the walkie talkies. But, other than joking around, we still got our stuff done but found a fun way to do it.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Aeropostale Employee: Usually when I worked, it was really busy. It was a lot during the holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, all of that. There’s a lot of huge lines and tons of people in the store tearing everything apart.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Aeropostale Employee: The application process was really easy. Basically, just fill out one piece of paper, then they’ll call you back and decide if they want to interview you. The interview process was just a big group interview where they went around the table, asked everybody questions, and stuff like that.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Aeropostale Employee: They were pretty typical questions: “What sets you apart?”, “What makes you a leader?”, “Are you good for our company?” So, it’s pretty basic questions.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Aeropostale Employee: If they want to start with Aeropostale, I would just tell them to go for it. You get good deals as far as pricing on clothes at the store, and you’re not forced to buy their merchandise. You can wear American Eagle and stuff like that, and it’s a very fun working environment.

I got called in for an interview and they said to dress what you think would represent the company, so don’t go over dressed with slacks and dress shoes. Just wear Aero clothing or something similar to it.
