Sales Associate Interview Video

Video Transcript

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Aeropostale Employee: That would be sales associate and cashier. Basically, all I do is go around, restock the shelves, get peoples’ payments on the items they want, and just reorganize the store whenever need be.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Aeropostale Employee: It was very relaxed. We had a lot of jokes. Everyone had on a walkie talkie, so if someone came in the store that was off the wall, we’d have little jokes over the walkie talkies. But, other than joking around, we still got our stuff done but found a fun way to do it.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Aeropostale Employee: Usually when I worked, it was really busy. It was a lot during the holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, all of that. There’s a lot of huge lines and tons of people in the store tearing everything apart.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Aeropostale Employee: The application process was really easy. Basically, just fill out one piece of paper, then they’ll call you back and decide if they want to interview you. The interview process was just a big group interview where they went around the table, asked everybody questions, and stuff like that.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Aeropostale Employee: They were pretty typical questions: “What sets you apart?”, “What makes you a leader?”, “Are you good for our company?” So, it’s pretty basic questions.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Aeropostale Employee: If they want to start with Aeropostale, I would just tell them to go for it. You get good deals as far as pricing on clothes at the store, and you’re not forced to buy their merchandise. You can wear American Eagle and stuff like that, and it’s a very fun working environment.

I got called in for an interview and they said to dress what you think would represent the company, so don’t go over dressed with slacks and dress shoes. Just wear Aero clothing or something similar to it.

I’m 16 years old with no job experience. Does Aeropostal require employees with job experience?
