Alaska Airlines Interview Questions & Tips

Hiring process information for an interview at Alaska Airlines

General Expectations

The Alaska Airlines hiring process generally begins after applicants submit the required hiring materials. After receiving the appropriate forms, Alaska Airlines hiring officials contact prospective workers by phone to conduct initial screenings. Based on the performance given during the phone interview, an applicant may receive a formal invite to meet with Alaska Airlines hiring managers and human resources representatives in group or 1:1 settings.

Examples of Typical Interview Questions

Specific interviews questions asked generally reflect the typical responsibilities of the position desired. For example, applicants vying for work as flight attendants may encounter interview questions like: "How would you handle a passenger demanding alcohol service before the appropriate time arouse?" Customer service agents may encounter Alaska Airlines interview questions like: "If someone you were helping was displeased with your services, how would you handle the situation?" Pilots, baggage crew, and operations agents undergo similar inquisitions during interviews.

Usual Length of Time to Complete the Process

Regardless of position, Alaska Airlines applicants participate in a lengthy interview process when attempting to gain employment. On average, the hiring process takes around a month to complete from beginning to end for jobs like customer service agent and flight attendant. Some positions, such as corporate careers in IT and other highly technical fields, require up to six months of screening.

Typical Methods of Screening Candidates

Common methods of interviewing applicants include phone interviews and one-on-one interviews. Alaska Airlines also uses group interviews and panel interviews to leaf through candidates.

Best Dress and Best Attitudes

A respected airline entertaining thousands of passengers annually, Alaska Airlines hires highly professional and detail-oriented individuals. During the hiring process, workers should demonstrate extreme professional behavior. Tattoos and piercings should be removed or covered, in most cases. Alaska Airlines also frowns upon applicants who smoke, especially for positions heavily involved in customer service. Well-kempt appearances best serve aspiring job seekers. Other beneficial qualities of potential associates include strong work ethics, excellent customer service skills, and overly cheerful dispositions.

Wait Times and Follow Ups

After completing the final Alaska Airlines interview, many applicants wait up to a month to hear back about employment status. In the meantime, the airline encourages workers to keep in close contact and follow up by email or phone call persistently. Workers who show persistence following the interview process often receive additional hiring consideration.

How did your phone interview go? Mine was basic and consisted of employment history questions. They also asked about community service and a little bit about yourself.
