Job Description and Duties
What Does an Amazon Pharmacy Technician Do?
The job of an Amazon pharmacy technician involves working remotely from home or at an Amazon fulfillment center, meaning all interactions with customers are virtual. Job requirements include a high school diploma or GED, recent pharmacy work experience, and an active, in-state license.
Additional Daily Duties
Because Amazon Pharmacy is a virtual service, technicians do not greet customers face-to-face like most other pharmacies. They still work with customers by providing personalized medication management services.
Amazon pharmacy technician duties include encouraging and assisting customers in taking the right medications as prescribed.
Pharmacy techs must be accurate and efficient in their work. Typical responsibilities include entering new prescriptions into the database, keeping track of inventory, helping new customers access the pharmacy, and supporting other pharmacy teams in filling orders, billing patients, and shipping medications.
Salary and Compensation
How Much Do They Get Paid?
Amazon pharmacy technicians work ten-hour shifts full time, excluding overtime. The typical pay for a licensed Amazon pharmacy tech is $17.00 an hour, and NHA or PTCB-certified techs make around $19.00 an hour or more.
There is an added $2.00 an hour for those who choose to work on the weekends, as well.
Are There Any Other Benefits?
From employee discounts to six-month pay raises, pharmacy techs who work for Amazon have access to exceptional benefits. Employees begin earning PTO hours immediately and have medical, dental, and vision insurance the day they start. Amazon also offers a 401(k) savings plan with company match along with opportunities for internal promotion.
