Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Arby’s Team Member: I was team member, that was the job description, but usually I just worked on the fryer area. I didn’t really make sandwiches. Sometimes I would go to the front and … I would ring out the customers, that’s what I would do. Majority of the time I was in the fryer area.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Arby’s Team Member: It was pretty nice. Most of the days it wasn’t that busy, but we got a lot of older people in the mornings. It wasn’t that bad.
Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Arby’s Team Member: It being cool on the inside, because I worked, majority of the time, I was working on the summer. So it was pretty cool in the inside, and I got ice cream and stuff because they got milkshakes.
Interviewer: Please describe the application and interview process.
Arby’s Team Member: I think I did the application online, and it was probably like a couple pages, nothing that bad. After I turned in my app, like a couple days later, they called me for an interview. So I went to the interview, then I had to go to training. I had to do some computer training, after the interview. Then they trained me manually after that. Then I just started working, after, there.
Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Arby’s Team Member: They asked about what were my strengths and weaknesses, why did I want the job, how long would I be working because I started in the summer and I was going to school and stuff, so. Just things like that.
Interviewer: How were you notified that you received the job?
Arby’s Team Member: They called me by phone, it was probably like three days later.
Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Arby’s Team Member: I was willing to start early. I told them I wanted to start soon, because it was my first job and I was excited, so I was really worked up about it. I showed enthusiasm towards the job.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job-seeker looking to gain employment?
Arby’s Team Member: Be friendly, because they are a friendly environment, like I said earlier. It’s very friendly, so be friendly and enthusiastic.

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Arby’s Crew Member: My job title was a crew member, so my duties were just running the cash register, making sure everyone gets the right orders. I was also assigned mostly to fry station, so I had to take care of a lot of the side items, making sure we were properly well stacked.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Arby’s Crew Member: It was pretty friendly. There’s a lot of camaraderie there. When we had down time we would be goofing off – very family-like.
Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Arby’s Crew Member: I would say definitely getting to eat Arby’s. If we work for more than five or six hours, we got a free meal. I looked forward to that. Their food is really good.
Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Arby’s Crew Member: For opening, you basically had to make sure that everything was running smoothly. You made sure the roast beef was in the oven and coming out fresh. Everything had to be fresh. Then for closing, basically make sure everything was cleaned up and everything was put away. Basically throughout the day, you also maintain sanitary conditions. Another aspect was trying to get to customers as quickly possible, especially at the drive-thru.
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Arby’s Crew Member: With the application, you just fill it out and hand it in, and they will call you later, about a week or two weeks. The store manager sits down with you one-on-one, and it’s friendly; there’s no pressure or anything like that. They just really want to get to know you. They ask if you have any previous work experience. From there on, it’s pretty smooth. If they like you, then they just hire you on the spot.
Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Arby’s Crew Member: Of course, any criminal record. Also, they asked if you had any good experience at fast food restaurants. Also, basically what your availability is – normally throughout the week – if you could open or close.
Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Arby’s Crew Member: The one thing that really made me stand out was the fact that I told my manager I really work hard. My dad really instilled in me a good work ethic, and I’m really obedient to authority. I don’t goof off like other people. I always get the task done, so I think that was something she was really looking for.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Arby’s Crew Member: I would say just be yourself, and just try to list all your good attitudes and characteristics. Just try to stay positive, because the work environment is a very positive environment. They’re very friendly, and it never hurts to say you like Arby’s, which Arby’s is pretty good.
CJ says:
Arby’s crew members do not typically make $8 to $9. They typically make whatever the minimum wage is for the state they’re living in. Most states are below $8 an hour. California is not typical so you can’t say they typically make that. I’m from Florida, moved to NY and then California. California fast food jobs all pay much higher than other areas of the country because the minimum wage and cost of living is higher.
