Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Baskin-Robbins Server: I worked there in the summer in high school, and I was mostly serving ice cream, cashiering, and filling up ice creams, exchanging them as the day went on. It was just titled as a server, basically, and it was a lot of fun. Good summer job.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Baskin-Robbins Server: It was very relaxing. It was really hot outside, so it was really good to be inside, and a lot of people would go in and out, so I wasn’t always standing there being bored. There are a lot of people coming in for ice cream.
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Baskin-Robbins Server: It was a paper application. I just kind of walked in there, asked if they were hiring, and they said “Sure,” and they called me for an interview. It’s pretty simple. They just kind of needed somebody at the time.
Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Baskin-Robbins Server: Basically like, “Have you ever had a job before?” That was usually the first one. Then, they asked, “Do you have any experience working with other people in a team?” Because they kind of stressed team building and communicating with other workers, and I had some experience with that. Nothing too crazy.
Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Baskin-Robbins Server: I was a basketball coach at the time, so I had a lot of experience communicating and coordinating people’s different strengths in different positions. So, when they asked me if I had any experience, they thought I would be a good team player and take control of situations if it needed to happen.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Baskin-Robbins Server: It’s kind of fast-paced depending on the time of the year, so look forward to that. But, there are also a lot of slow times, and I think a good tip to have is stressing team building and working with coworkers and having experience.
