Bath & Body Works Sales Associate: The work environment is awesome. There are so many different people. It’s very diverse. I love it. Everybody is happy, all smiles. It’s never a bad environment to be in. The stress level could go up often but never too high to where everybody is losing their heads and stuff like that. We keep our composure and just try to have fun together and work together as a team.
Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Bath & Body Works Sales Associate: My favorite part is explaining to people the sales that we have going on and getting to know customers and it gets kind of personal because then they ask you what is your favorite scent and why do you like it? And stuff like that. And I like to talk about that stuff because it’s my favorite store.
Interviewer: Please describe the application and interview process.
Bath & Body Works Sales Associate: The application process, doing the application was not long itself but it was just them getting back to me. I had to call. It was one of those jobs where you have to call and check up on your application and see if they’ve seen your file and stuff like that. The interview was also straightforward. They asked more detailed questions. It was a little bit long. I would say almost 25 minutes, which is kind of long for me. It wasn’t tough though. It was pretty cool and calm.
Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Bath & Body Works Sales Associate: Have you ever worked in this company before? What were my reasons for leaving my last place of work? And if they were to call my manager or boss back at my old job, what would they say about me? What type of employee was I? And stuff like that.
Interviewer: How were you notified that you received the job?
Bath & Body Works Sales Associate: I was told I got the job at the end of the interview but I received paperwork through my email to sign it and accept the offer.
Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Bath & Body Works Sales Associate: The fact that I actually use the product. I could talk about it forever. I’m a very social person. I love our customers, I love to talk to them. I just have fun. The fact that I love this store is just enough.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Bath & Body Works Sales Associate: If you want to learn more about the store, you should go in there often and try to get a feel for the atmosphere and stuff like that. Speak to some of the sale associates and just look around and try different stuff.

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Bath & Body Works Employee: My job title, I would say, would be resale associate, and my duties were to stock, cash people out, and assist people throughout the store, helping them find what they needed. It was a seasonal job, so it was a lot of that.
Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Bath & Body Works Employee: Discounts.
Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Bath & Body Works Employee: A typical day… you would go in, get your little earpieces on – everybody’s in their little black apron. It’s chaotic at certain times, then completely dead at other times. It was very routine.
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Bath & Body Works Employee: That was one I had never experienced before. I put in my application, then I did a phone interview. Then, they called you back after the phone interview and did a group interview, where they took five or six people to the food court in the mall, and they interviewed them all in a group setting. And whoever got picked out of that group go to their individual interview, then you got a phone call if you were hired or not.
Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Bath & Body Works Employee: It was basically a lot of questions, like: “If you were in this situation, what would you do?”, “If you were in that situation, what would you do?”, and how you would work with people and relate to people. I remember in the group interview, there was about five or six of us. They took us all to the food court, and it wasn’t like a major or formal thing – a lot of conversation and just talking about basic life stuff. I don’t know if that was a setting to get us to see how open we could be, or if we were people that just sat there in the corner, shy and scared. That particular interview was very informal. They asked a lot more of how-would-you-do and what-would-you-do scenarios in the interview.
Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Bath & Body Works Employee: I’m not shy, and I have no problem approaching people, being willing to help people. I’ve worked in the service industry my whole life. I realize retail isn’t exactly the same, but I’ve worked in bars, restaurants, things of that nature, so me being able to just talk to people in a normal setting and not be so nervous helped me get the job.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Bath & Body Works Employee: Don’t be shy. Don’t be shy and be honest and open because it is a retail company where they want to send the employee to the customer, not wait for the customer to come to the employee. So, people that are more outgoing and are not shy are better off in getting the position.
