Interviewees applying for entry-level jobs at Braum's stores usually meet with a hiring manager one time, while management positions require three rounds of interviews with various recruiters or upper-level managers. Stores tend to interview applicants one-on-one, even for managerial job openings.

Emphasis on Work Experience

Hiring managers in charge of interviewing potential Braum's employees generally want to know about previous work experiences. Interviewers sometimes ask candidates to outline individual employment histories beginning with first jobs. Entry-level workers with limited experience should focus on highlighting transferable skills applicable to working in an ice cream shop.

Video Transcript

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Braums Server: When I first started out, I was just in the front handing out ice cream to people. Further along the line I had went to doing that also, and then I went to the back and I was working drive first window, and the second window they gave you the food. I was also making the food, and then sometimes I’d be in the food department and I’d being doing bag boy, cashier, and all that. Then I would sometimes help with the grill, and then I’d run food. In the whole process of working there, I did everything other than work with the money.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Braums Server: It was fun. I mean I don’t like ice cream so I really didn’t eat the food, like the ice cream part. It was good, I mean it’s a job. Fast paced, it was fast food so you had to keep going.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Braums Server: Okay first you get there, talk to the manager, and then she sends you to this little computer, and then you put in all your information. Well first interview, and then she asks you about where have you had a job before? Who do you know here? How much you trying to get paid? What can you do? What can you do for us? You know with your attitude. After that, she’ll call you back two/three days later, and she’ll tell you to come back up there. You’ll put all your information in this little computer, and then once you do that, she’ll give you some papers to sign. After that, you can proably start working about the next day. Next two days.

Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Braums Server: The fact I worked with pizza before. I’ve already been in the food corporation, and I have my not a degree but a license for food to handle it. I knew people there that worked there, so I had pretty good references.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Braums Server: Fast paced. Learn to be quick and to listen.
