Interview Tips from a Burger King Hiring Manager Video

Video Transcript

Interviewer: What qualities do you look for in an applicant?
Burger King Hiring Manager: Personality, definitely somebody who has their head held high and not looking down at the floor all the time.

Interviewer: What kind of answers do you look for in an interview?
Burger King Hiring Manager: I remember one time, sitting there listening in. They were talking about transportation, and the kid was like, “Yeah, I got my mom,” and I thought that was odd. Then, I’m listening to the general manager go, “Okay, if your mom can’t get you here, how are you going to get here?” He said, “I’ll walk,” and we asked, “How far do you live?” The kid said it was about five to seven miles, something like that. And I was like, “You’re going to walk five to seven miles, work a full shift, and walk back home?” And he got the job and he did do it a couple of times. I saw him. I thought that was a good answer.

Interviewer: How can an interviewee tell if the interview went well?
Burger King Hiring Manager: I think most times you get a good feeling from the person sitting across from you. If they’re not looking around or acting like they’re bored with you… as long as you hold the attention of the interviewer, I think it’s usually good.

Interviewer: What should an applicant do to prepare for an interview?
Burger King Hiring Manager: Definitely dress nice. You don’t want to go in there with pants sagging and stuff like that. Just talk like a human being. Don’t do any negative comments or anything like that.

Interviewer: What should an applicant do after leaving the interview?
Burger King Hiring Manager: I would think to follow up if you don’t hear back. Give it like a week or so, then follow up, see if maybe they just missed you.

Burger King Food Prep Interview Video

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Burger King Food Prep: I was on food prep, on the line. I made burgers and handled the grill.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Burger King Food Prep: It was fun. I mean, it could get busy, but it was fun.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Burger King Food Prep: The people. I mean, they made it easier to work.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Burger King Food Prep: Busy. It could get overwhelming with the managers and stuff. I would say just stay on your job and have fun.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Burger King Food Prep: You called in, and they asked you to come in to do the application, or you could do it online. And, if they thought you were the person for the job, they would call you back.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Burger King Food Prep: “Tell me a word that you think would describe you,” “Give me a strength and a weakness,” and “What do you think you can bring to the job that would help the company succeed?”

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Burger King Food Prep: Just do your job, be friendly, and make sure you like people because there’s a lot of different people that come there, and some are nice, some are not so nice.
