Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Cedar Point Wardrobe: At Cedar Point, I worked there when I was about 16 or 17. I was considered wardrobe and merchandise. My position was specifically taking all the uniforms they have. I didn’t actually do the laundry, but I put them in the back. I’d be folding clothes and handing out uniforms to anyone, either processing a new hire or swapping out used uniforms for new ones at Cedar Point.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Cedar Point Wardrobe: There’s not very many people in the building where you’re an employee. At Cedar Point, you get all of the benefits, but it’s maybe five people working the total business. It’s kind of secluded, not a whole lot to do but laundry stuff.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Cedar Point Wardrobe: Number one is that you get a free pass to Cedar Point every year that you worked there. You get four free tickets a year for your family. Generally, with it being such a big company, there’s not a whole lot of bad things about working there to keep a really close watch on employees and managers. They’re really good to the people in their company. You get bonuses if you stay with the company for the full summer. Especially the younger kids, they get bonuses for staying with them the entire summer.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Cedar Point Wardrobe: Generally, go in when the park opens – 10-ish, 10 or 11 o’clock. You don’t generally have to work too much early in the day for that position. You were doing lots of laundry, for uniforms that need to be folded, generally in the mornings and evenings. When they’re closing is when all the employees are coming to get their new uniforms. We also take care of anyone that has problems with sizing or anything like. They come in, and you process them out.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Cedar Point Wardrobe: Back then, it was still online. You fill out the application online, and if you knew someone at Cedar Point, it really helped you out if you put their name on the application. That way, you have a reference at Cedar Point. Then, they call you, bring you in for a short interview. The position wasn’t as large as other positions are, and once they go through it, and they like you, they’ll send you over to processing that day, and you get your ID the next day.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Cedar Point Wardrobe: It’s a really fun place to work. You just have to make sure that you’re expected to work for the week. There’s not a whole lot of trying to call off or shift swap with someone. You’re there for the summer, and you’re there to do your job for the summer. If you’re scheduled to work, you work.

Cedar Point Food Server: I was a food host, so I worked at Happy Fryer, which was a homemade French fry, potato restaurant thing. I also worked at the frozen lemonade stand next to it.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Cedar Point Food Server: It was fun. You met a lot of cool people there, a lot of foreign people, a lot of people from different areas.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Cedar Point Food Server: The free admission. We got free admission into the park. The benefits were cool. You got to stay on grounds, so everything was pretty much right there within the area of the park.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Cedar Point Food Server: You count your drawer, have your manager sign you in, you pretty much take your register, fill your orders, then reversed that at the end of the day.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Cedar Point Food Server: It was an online application, and then I did a phone interview. Then about two weeks later, I got a packet stating that I had gotten hired.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Cedar Point Food Server: My experience, my customer service attitude, they wanted to know how I felt about Cedar Point, whether I enjoyed it or not. Pretty much, their trying to figure out if I was people friendly if I’ll be able to interact with the customers.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Cedar Point Food Server: Be able to work and be ready to work, because it is a working job.

Cedar Point Dishwasher: I was a dishwasher. I didn’t want to be a dishwasher but I was like, it’s an easy job. I worked at Big Harbor. It’s behind the Blue Streak and Raptor. It really was like a team of people. You just stayed at the station you washed.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Cedar Point Dishwasher: The work environment, it was actually clean. It was really clean. Everybody worked together so the cooks, the waiters, and the people that did the salads, we all did everything together so everything was always clean so it was never like a…

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Cedar Point Dishwasher: If you like amusement parks, you’re going to love it because you get free tickets, you get into other parks for free. Like, Kings Island and stuff like that.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Cedar Point Dishwasher: It’s really, really simple. Like, really all I did, was have a water hose and just blow the dishes off. It’s a machine so the machine does it for you, you just put it away so you’re not, no scrubbing and in some places, but they have machines for you so, and you’re never working alone.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Cedar Point Dishwasher: They would ask questions like, “Do you mind working weekends, holiday?”, because you know, they got July 4th, Memorial Day weekend, and during the fall they have Halloween and stuff like that.

Interviewer: How were you notified that you received the job?
Cedar Point Dishwasher: I did the application in early, late, about late March, early May, early April, I meant. I got hired in April, probably like the 2nd, 3rd week. I started about, normally like, they still let us do school. I got started about May.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Cedar Point Dishwasher: Make the best out of it. I mean, they’re not perfect but make the best out of it. It’s fun, it’s like I said. Especially if you’re a college student, you get to meet other people that’s in school so it’s like, you get to relate, it’s like people to this day, that I’m really, really close to.
