Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Domino’s Pizza Cook: My job title was, at Domino’s – it was supposed to be maintenance, believe it or not. But, a person that was supposed to come in didn’t show up, so I opened the restaurant at 6 AM, and whoever didn’t clean up the night before, I made sure the area was clean. And the person who didn’t show up was the person that made the dough, and eventually they gave me the job. So, I started doing the dough, poofing it. It was a skill that I never knew before. It taught me something real well, and then I knew I could go home and knew how to make my pizza, for my kids and my grandkids. It was cool.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Domino’s Pizza Cook: It was great, it was real good. It was fast-paced, it was silly, and it was great camaraderie.
Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Domino’s Pizza Cook: I’ll put it like this: from the time I started my shift, and then it was time to leave, I’d say: “Wow, where did all the time go?”
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Domino’s Pizza Cook: I just walked by a sign that said applications taken, and I walked in and filled the application out, and the young man brought me back and looked at the stuff on my application. He was like, “How soon can you start?” and I said the same thing, “When do you need me?” And it went from there.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Domino’s Pizza Cook: Go in, be crisp, be clean, give straightforward answers, and just tell the people that you need a job. Jobs are hard to find out here. That you need a job, which you will be there, and do the best you can for the company.
