How to Get a Job at GIANT
Most workers who submit hiring materials to GIANT Food Stores locations and receive interview consideration go through a simple and straightforward process to obtain employment. The hiring process involves brief, 1:1 interviews for most positions. Hiring managers may wait to contact eligible individuals for job interviews for months on end, depending on the number of applicants vying for the same position. The grocery store chain keeps applicant information on file for up to six months.
Taking Tours
During job interviews, hiring personnel sometimes take employees on tours of the supermarket facilities. The tours may include meet-and-greets with potential coworkers as well as monitored interactions with customers. GIANT Food Stores asks candidates about availability during the hiring process in addition to covering topics like reasons for choosing GIANT Carlisle or GIANT Landover, which operate as sister companies in different regions throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia.
Interview Questions to Expect
Interview questions used during the hiring process center on customer service. "Have you ever gone beyond your responsibilities to help a customer?", "Can you tell me a little about yourself as a worker and as an individual?", and "Do you enjoy doing good deeds for others/can you provide examples?" serve as typical job interview questions encountered by applicants. Oftentimes, GIANT Food Stores interviews last only long enough for hiring representatives to get a general idea of a candidate.
What Information Will Help Me Stand Out?
The abilities to perform assigned tasks and work available shifts rank as the two most important points to convey to hiring managers. Articulate and well-thought-out answers often receive the best responses from hiring representatives. Wear professional attire to all parts of the GIANT Food Stores hiring process. Khaki pants and polo shirts or business-appropriate skirts, blouses, tops, and dress pants serve as ideal wardrobe choices for all positions.
Giant Stock Boy Interview Video
Video Transcript
Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Giant Stock Boy: I was a stock boy/delivery boy. Anything that would come through our backdoor, I would unload and load off of the truck and ultimately put on the shelves. Stock boy, as well.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Giant Stock Boy: Very pleasant. At my store at least, there really wasn’t any hardships, any hard times, any ill will between workers. Everybody was fairly good to each other.
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Giant Stock Boy: Application was in store. They had a kiosk setup. You go in. You fill out the application. Takes about 20 minutes or so. Very in-depth. They give you a call back. Unfortunately, I didn’t wait for the call back. I called them, I was very anxious. Set up an interview. Interview was five to 10 minutes. Just trying to figure out who I was as a person and how I would fit in with the company. About a week or so later they called me back and said I’m hired. That was that.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Giant Stock Boy: Be yourself. Don’t try and put on airs just to please them. They can see right through that. They’re very obvious when that’s showing.

Just had an interview today 5/2/2012 and I needed to bring my VALID photo ID and Social security card. I have a High School Diploma but as long as you have a GED you are fine. I wore nice looking sneakers with khaki pants and a polo shirt. They told me they hire at minimum wage but I got offered $8.00 an hour (7.25 is minimum). The Giant I applied for in Pennsylvania hired me on the spot without doing a drug test. They have an AWESOME benefits package even for parttime employees!

Hi I want to work for Giants and I just want to know do you have to bring anything for a job as a bakery associates or cashier? Is a resume needed?
Davon Mcfadden says:
The Job Interview at Giants went great. Even though minimum wage is 7.25, they gave me 8.00 dollars so they were extremely nice and they hired me on the spot even without drug testing me. So, that showed they trust me. And they have awesome benefits even for the part time workers. I am extremely happy and satisfied with my interview with Giant.
