Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Golden Spoon Employee: I was a team member/server. I would serve the customers, make their orders, and then keep the restaurant clean on the off time.
Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Golden Spoon Employee: The free yogurt, because it was really good yogurt.
Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Golden Spoon Employee: Show up, we’d have four or five hour shifts. Usually, just go straight in to serving customers. I’d usually get there right before the rush. Once the rush ends, you’ll go and check the machines, keep them filled throughout the day, refill all the toppings and cups and all that. At the end of the day, clean the machines, clean the toppings area, mop the floors, turn the lights off, that sort of thing.
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Golden Spoon Employee: The application was two to three pages, general info. I think I brought a resume. The interview was pretty relaxed. It was in a grocery store right next to the place. The owner/manager of the store was there, and a friend of his from another of their stores. It was just a lot of personal questions. How do you deal with customers? Some situationals – if the customer did this, what would you do?
Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Golden Spoon Employee: There was no oddball questions; it was all very straightforward. Just trying to get a feel for the person, because you deal with customers a lot. Just making sure that your personality would fit with the team and you can deal with customers.
Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Golden Spoon Employee: Coming off as friendly. I just really tried to come across as friendly and lighthearted as I could to the owner. Try to maybe say a few jokes and just be genuine.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Golden Spoon Employee: Make a good impression. Show them that you can deal with customers who could be difficult at times, could be really nice at times, and just that you are not going to be slowed down by anything on the job. You can always keep a straight face and not take anything personally.
