Hiring process information for an interview at Hibbett Sports
Start at the Company Webpage
Hibbett Sports generally interviews several candidates for the same position before rendering final hiring verdicts. The nationwide sporting goods chain conducts similar interviews for positions at all levels of employment throughout store locations. The hiring process features brief, one-to-one job interviews with a store manager or district manager. Most applicants establish candidacy for available jobs through the company online careers page. Based on the applicant information, hiring managers contact workers to schedule job interviews.
What the Company Looks For
The retail chain takes sports very seriously. Applicants looking for work at Hibbett Sports fill positions bearing names like Rookie, Team Player, and Coach, which designate seniority. The hiring process uses basic and specific interview questions to screen for desirable traits, like experience in retail, love of sports, knowledge of related products, accessories, and equipment, and personable and friendly personalities. Sales skills also rank as highly sought-after during interviews. Job seekers usually attend interviews on location at a nearby store and spend around 20 to 30 minutes with the attending manager. Although most applicants only participate in a single interview during the hiring process, some workers may run across two or three interviews. Two job interviews generally proves the maximum, in most cases.
Common Interview Questions
Hiring personnel consistently cover sales aptitude during the interview process. Questions like, "How do your sales skills set you apart from other applicants?" directly inquire about applicant abilities. Other common interview questions center on customer/employee relations. "If the next customer in line was on a cell phone and approached the counter, what would you do?" or "If a customer needs advice on a brand of running shoe, what would you suggest?" represent two examples of potential Hibbett Sports interview questions fielded by candidates. The interview process also regularly includes questions related to sports in general.
A Passion for Sports Helps
In addition to providing customer-oriented and helpful responses to interview questions, applicants need to arrive at each job interview dressed in professional clothing and well-groomed. The retail chain hires workers able to look and act in professional manners at all times. Body language and non-verbal communication play similarly important roles as specific answers to interview questions. Show enthusiasm and passion for sports and helping others. Smiling, bright individuals connect more often with hiring managers than slouched, apathetic, and disinterested-looking individuals. Hibbett Sports usually offers jobs to successful candidates immediately upon finishing the final interview sessions. Workers in the hunt for managerial positions may receive phone calls at later dates with final employment determinations.
