Hilton Hotels Waitress Interview Video

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Hilton Hotels Waitress: I am a morning waitress at the Hilton Garden Inn at the airport. So, I serve guests throughout the morning. I also have a little bit of closing duties, as far as mopping, vacuuming, things like that.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Hilton Hotels Waitress: It’s business casual. It’s not extremely formal. But, since most of the people that come in and eat are business travelers, you’re required to be a little more formal and say “good morning” and things like that.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Hilton Hotels Waitress: We start really early. We start at five, then we have to set up the buffet and the menus and things like that. And then, you just serve from 6am to 11, and afterwards we have a lot of cleanup to do. So, sometimes we have to do that really quickly if they’re using the dining area for a banquet or something. But other than that, that’s it. It’s pretty straightforward.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Hilton Hotels Waitress: Actually, mine was really informal. I didn’t even have an online application. It was just a posting on Craigslist that I replied to. Some of the questions were what your availability was, what your experience was, and if you had experience with waiting. So, I just replied what they asked for, and they said they would want me to come in, and I met the boss and he said I would be a good match. So, I started pretty much the day after.

Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Hilton Hotels Waitress: Definitely, the hours. There weren’t a lot of people willing to work at 5, especially on the weekends. So, I think that was pretty much it.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Hilton Hotels Waitress: I guess just be good at multitasking because you’d be surprised how many people actually do wake up for breakfast. So, it’s easy to get orders mixed up. Maybe not take it too hard on yourself if you get a few wrong.
