Holiday Inn Housekeeper: Housekeeping. My job was to change the linen, vacuum, do the bathrooms, you know, the basic cleaning.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Holiday Inn Housekeeper: It was nice, clean, everything friendly. Yeah.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Holiday Inn Housekeeper: Well, when I got that job, that was actually my second job that I ever had in life. I had been to the penitentiary, got out. They gave me a chance. They hired me and they didn’t treat me any differently from anyone else and I was there four years. Yeah.

Interviewer: Please describe the application and interview process.
Holiday Inn Housekeeper: At the time I was on a furlough, so we had to look for three jobs every day, so I went to The Holiday Inn on Lakeside, applied, they called me back. I can’t remember the lady’s name, but we interviewed. She went over my record, she understood everything and she hired me. She gave me a chance and she was real cool.

Holiday Inn Housekeeper: What am I looking for, like as far as pay, advancement, the benefits and that’s it, basically. Yeah.

Interviewer: How were you notified that you received the job?
Holiday Inn Housekeeper: By phone and within maybe a week.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Holiday Inn Housekeeper: Be honest, even if you had a record is be honest. The main thing is to be honest, because eventually they’re going to find out and just work hard.

Holiday Inn Housekeeper: Well, I think my personality, outgoing, very energetic.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Holiday Inn Housekeeper: Just keep searching and looking and never give up.
