What Does a KFC Team Member Do?

A KFC team member may take on a wide variety of responsibilities during a shift. Key crew member job duties include serving customers and preparing food. Customer service responsibilities include greeting customers, taking orders, and completing customer transactions on the cash register.

Other Duties

Food preparation duties include preparing menu items and assembling orders. Kentucky Fried Chicken team members must also maintain a clean and organized work area and a presentable store environment.

How Much Do They Get Paid?

KFC crew members typically make $8.00 to $9.00 an hour. Pay rates generally increase with experience. The average hourly wage a KFC team member earns rests at about $8.50 per hour. In addition to pay, KFC offers several work benefits to qualified team members.

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties?

KFC Team Member: I was a customer service worker. So, basically I did everything at the restaurant. I started off on the cash register in the front and then moved to the drive through and then did the pack line.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?

KFC Team Member: Some of my co-workers were really nice and willing to switch shifts and everything. So it was easy to get someone to take a shift for you if you needed to.

Interviewer: Please describe the application and interview process.

KFC Team Member: I filled out my application and then I got a call like two weeks later and then when I went in for the interview they just asked basic questions like when are you available? Do you have a dependable ride to work? And how many hours you want to work and everything.

Interviewer: How were you notified that you received the job?

KFC Team Member: Um, at the interview they told me that I was hired and then like a month after that is when I went in for orientation.

Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?

KFC Team Member: I mean, I’m pretty good with working with other people and customers because I had experience prior to that. So, I guess, like that kind of…

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?

KFC Team Member: I would say just make sure that you communicate with the managers and everything because if not you won’t be able to get time off that you need or something like that.

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
KFC Team Member: Basically, my job title is team member and my duties were cooking the chicken. Occasionally, I washed dishes, but most of the time I was cooking chicken.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
KFC Team Member: It was small, kind of crowded. For the most part, it was cool.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
KFC Team Member: Being able to take home some of the food that was left over.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
KFC Team Member: Really busy, getting swamped sometimes. A lot of times, we would throw down chicken, get it up real fast, watch that we don’t burn ourselves.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
KFC Team Member: It was real simple. They just asked me what my hours were, what my availability was. It took me a minute, though, because I had turned in so many applications, but I finally got hired. I finally got an interview and got hired, so it was cool.

Interviewer: What should an applicant wear to the job interview?
KFC Team Member: Just casual. Maybe not going to school casual, but a nice dress shirt, some nice dress pants or some jeans, and a sweater vest or something.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
KFC Team Member: I’ve been interviewed a lot over the years, and they all basically ask the same questions.

Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
KFC Team Member: There’s one thing that stood out to me the most: there was a customer walking by and told the lady that was interviewing me that I was well dressed and well spoken, and I think that’s what got me the job.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
KFC Team Member: I would say turn in an application, but when you call, ask to speak to a hiring manager. Make sure you leave your name and your number, so they can get back to you.

    The most amazing bit of working at kfc is how busy sometimes it gets and a customer laughs at you, when they see you running up and down, and at the end of the day it feels sweet when you make sure that all customers are pretty happy aboout how you serve. really feel nice working at KFC
