Background Info

The Lane Bryant retail network boasts over 800 locations throughout the United States. Applicants looking for work with the nationwide retailer must complete the hiring process, which often includes very straightforward procedures, in order to gain employment consideration.

Ideal Candidates

Lane Bryant stores favor applicants with exceptional tastes in fashion. Job seekers regularly respond to interview questions related to assisting customers. The company highly regards individuals with personable and outgoing personalities capable of executing sales on a consistent basis.

Inside the Interview

During Lane Bryant interviews, hiring personnel specifically ask applicants about experiences in sales, fashion or otherwise. Candidates may encounter interview questions like, "What fashion magazines do you regularly read?" or "Do you have any favorite fashion models?" More specific questions related to sales may include, "Can you tell me about a time you helped a store meet sales goals?" and "Can you tell me about a time where a customer was upset and how you personally handled the situation?" Other topics covered range from loss prevention and merchandising to pay rates and hours of availability.

Number of Interviews

Lane Bryant job seekers typically follow through with at least one interview during the hiring process. Some stores may prefer applicants participate in two interviews for employment consideration, even for entry-level positions like sales associate. Managers generally represent the only candidates who go through more than one interview prior to hiring.

Dress for the Job

Applicants should expect to dress well and exude confidence during Lane Bryant interviews. The retail chain hires professional and motivated individuals able to maintain solid demeanors noticeably accented by excellent customer service and sales abilities. The retail chain expects employees to exercise the same attention to detail prior to each shift in order to convey the right look and feel to shoppers.

With any retail job interview it’s best to keep it simple. Slacks and a nice dress shirt. I always reccomend to find out what the store’s vibe is and dress appropriatly based on what the store is selling. Also, make sure to pay attention to your hair, nails and make up.
Before you leave the house look in the mirror and ask yoursef, “would I purchase items form myself if I was a shopper?”.
