Getting a Job with Levi's
Levi's, also referred to as Levi Strauss, operates as a highly successful fashion retailer that hires the most knowledgeable and customer-focused associates possible. For most store jobs, Levi's conducts group interviews with four to six candidates. Candidates participating in group interviews should be highly personable and outgoing in order to stand out from other applicants. Previous experience in the retail or fashion industry may prove beneficial during the Levi’s interview process.
Interview Questions
Levi's interview questions primarily cover customer service and sales abilities. Some examples include: "What experience do you have that prepares you for the job?" "Can you describe a time when you experienced good customer service?", and "Can you tell me about a time when you demonstrated integrity?"
Practice Answering Interview Questions with a Partner
Candidates want to maintain consistent eye contact when answering interview questions. Responses should remain clear and concise and provide articulate and complete ideas. Applicants should hone interview skills before entering interviews. Once each Levi Strauss interview concludes, job hopefuls should express gratitude for the opportunities.
Dress in Levi's Clothing if Possible
Applicants should wear stylish yet professional clothing to each Levi’s job interview. To demonstrate a passion for the brand, job seekers should wear all Levi’s clothing throughout the hiring process.
Be Prepared to Sell
In some cases, hiring managers ask applicants to talk about and sell specific clothing items to the group.
Some Job Offers Happen Same Day as Interviews
After the initial group interview, hiring managers usually speak to applicants individually to allow for any specific questions candidates may have. During private chats, Levi's managers extend job offers to successful candidates.
Levi’s Stylist Interview Video
Video Transcript
Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Levi’s Stylist: My job title at Levi’s was a Levi’s stylist. My job duties included just basic things like greeting customers, checking them in and out, but my main job was actually being the stylist so I would help them measure themselves, pick out a certain jean they would like. We were big on style I.D.’s like fitting a jean for you, so my main job priority was always helping out the customers, what type of jean they would like since we are Levi Strauss and Company, all jean-like things. My main goal was just helping the customers find their specific part in our brand.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Levi’s Stylist: The work environment was crazy. Levi’s is a very worldwide name brand. We had people from all over the world coming in from Germany to Australia, parts of Asia, all over Europe, South America, so it was crazy all the time. Different types of people looking for different types of jeans.
Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Levi’s Stylist: My favorite part was the people. It was really cool to see people from all over the world coming for the same thing, just like a pair of jeans that fits them right. A brand they know and love that reaches everyone.
Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Levi’s Stylist: Greeting everyone, making sure the store was kept neat and organized because like I said, people were coming in for a specific type of jean, a specific style. I had to keep everything organized which meant folding all the clothes, keeping them in the right section, and also that would keep me knowledgeable of where I needed to go to help the person. My day would just look like a lot of folding, lot of organizing, and then obviously a lot of talking, customer interaction, things like that.
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Levi’s Stylist: It’s an online application. They just ask you basic generic questions. Where are you, where are you from, what’s you work experience, what’s your education background. From there, you would have to take a personality take, usually takes 20 to 40 minutes depending on how you answer it. Just getting to know you, how you react in certain situations, what is your overall personality, how you would fit in the store. From there, there would be two interviews. You’d have one large group interview and then you have a one-on-one interview with the manager.
Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Levi’s Stylist: I think I was just really enthusiastic when I went into the interviews. Just like a big thing, knowing the brand before you go in. Knowing the company’s mission statement helps out a lot. I think what stuck out was my knowledge and my enthusiasm for the brand before I went in for the interview.
Interviewer:What should an applicant wear to the interview?
Levi’s Stylist: For a Levi’s job interview, it’s a little different. It is not business casual at all. It is not business at all. They really want to see how your style fits into the brand so you’re asked to come in your best denim which is really odd, but you do come in a pair of jeans, and then whatever style you want to go with because they want to see how your personal style will fit in with the brand.
Interviewer: How were you notified that you received the job?
Levi’s Stylist: They told me in about two days after the final interview and it was through a phone call.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Levi’s Stylist: Just know what you’re getting into. It is just a typical retail job but like I said, getting to know their mission statement, what their brand’s about. They’re a really large brand. They have a lot of history. If you have that going into the interview, not only will you feel confident but you will stand out in that first group interview.
Levi’s Sales Associate Interview Video
Video Transcript
Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Levi’s Sales Associate: My job title was sales associate. What I did was I sold jeans, I would help customers that were coming to the job help them, persuade them to getting certain jeans, offer them more jeans or accessories with it.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Levi’s Sales Associate: The work environment, it was laid-back but at the same time you still had to get your work done. You could chill, but at the same time you still had to take care of, handle your business.
cribe the application and interview process?
Levi’s Sales Associate: All they really much asked was what do I know about Levi’s, what was my skillset, have I ever worked in sales before and that’s about it.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Levi’s Sales Associate: Actually have a pair of Levi’s. There was someone that came into the job who didn’t even own a pair of jeans, and they were just like, “What are you doing here then?” Just know the brand.
Laderine says:
what to expect at the interview, what do they ask, what should someone wear or how should they dress
Brandon says:
My business teacher always said dress one step up from how the managers dress look proffesional.
Samira says:
I’ve been in a few Levi’s and their company policy calls for casual dress. With that in mind, the best thing to wear (and the tip that a Levis employee gave me when I told her I was going to an interview with them the next day) is to dress in their clothes – wear Levi’s jeans and maybe one of their fancier shirts, like a button up. Most importantly, wear something that looks professional (covers everything that needs to be covered, fits well, etc) and something you feel comfortable in. You have enough to worry about at interviews, don’t give yourself more by wearing something that makes you want to fidget a lot.
James says:
Does the company check your grades if you are a highschool student? And what grade would you have to be to actually apply and get the job? Thank you.
Jay says:
I doubt any company would check your grades. You could be in any grade as long as you are 16 years old or older.
G says:
i work for levi’s for a year so far. The group interview is easy, pretty laid back, and they hire almost anyone. You can dress up (suit/paint suit) or dress down (Jeans [levis] and nice button up ).
Working for Levis is fun, but stressful at times with work schedule varying and the hours being up and down. High schoolers are normally hired cause they arent asking for much in pay (wages). If you are older come in with experience looking and expecting to move up the ladder quick.
You should know something about Fashion. You have to wear levi’s bottoms (jeans/shorts etc) everyday. But you can accessorize and put your own style on. Easy job, avg pay, decent if you just lookin for a job or even if you want a decent retail career
