Marriott Housekeeper Interview Video
Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Marriott Housekeeper: I was a housekeeper. I would go in the rooms, clean the rooms, strip the rooms, empty the trash, and get ready for the next guest. Also, we would help a lot of the guests out, too, like when we were out in the halls, they would catch us and ask where we could go for different places to eat and shop and entertainment.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Marriott Housekeeper: It was pretty friendly. You met a lot of interesting people and found a lot of interesting things in the room. Also, just laid back. You work by yourself a lot. You didn’t work with a lot of people; you had your own section.
Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Marriott Housekeeper: Working by myself because I could work at my own pace. I could do my own style and not have to worry about people wanting to do something different or tell me how to do things when I already knew what I was doing.
Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Marriott Housekeeper: Busy. I’d go in, load my cart, and get the sheets I need for the room and other supplies, load up my cart, check my rooms, clean the rooms, and then be out of there as quickly as possible.
Interviewer: Did you experience any promotions or career growth?
Marriott Housekeeper: Actually the day after I started, the whole company got a quarter raise. So my first day at work, I got a raise. Then about a year and a half into it, I got another raise, and that was about it.
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Marriott Housekeeper: I actually went to the hotel and filled out an application, and then I had a face-to-face interview. We sat at a picnic table in the back, and she asked me a couple of questions. She asked if I could pass a drug test and background check, and I was good to go.
Interviewer: What should an applicant wear to the job interview?
Marriott Housekeeper: Not overdressed but not underdressed. But not jeans, like khakis or slacks and just a nice shirt. But nothing too revealing.
Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Marriott Housekeeper: When I got interviewed, they just asked if I knew how to clean, work fast, and can get along with people.
