Nike Positions and Salary Information

A prominent shoe and athletic wear retailer, Nike maintains over 750 Nike Store and Nike Factory Store locations. The chain provides a wide range of entry-level jobs and full-time careers, with opportunities spanning from in-store sales to online support. At the forefront of the footwear industry, the brand offers exciting careers in sports research labs, corporate offices, and shipping facilities. A majority of entry-level jobs exist in retail operations, such as:

Athletes – Working as retail sales associates, athletes provide customer assistance on the sales floor and complete customer transactions at the cash wrap. Athletes primarily listen to customer needs and provide suggestions to connect customers with the right products. Outside of customer care, athletes unload deliveries, organize merchandise, set up store displays, and perform basic cleaning duties. To deliver adequate assistance, athletes should possess detailed knowledge of product lines and trends in footwear and athletic training. Associates also need strong customer care skills along with knowledge of basic sale techniques. Interested applicants should possess high school diplomas or GEDs. Athletes usually earn hourly pay of about $10.00 an hour.

Coaches – Also called store managers, coaches regulate daily store operations and supervise sales staff. Daily duties include reviewing sales figures, ensuring visual merchandising standards, and executing promotional initiatives. Staff supervision consists of monitoring associate performance as well as providing continued training and development. Always looking to improve store operations and profitability, mangers listen to customer feedback to identify merchandising issues. To qualify for coach jobs, prospective workers need several years of retail experience, with at least one year in a supervisory role. Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays benefits potential hires. Managers historically earn annual salary options falling between $40,000 and $80,000, depending on experience.

Tips For Applying

Job hopefuls need to apply for positions through the store website. Clicking on the careers link directs job seekers to the portal for corporate and retail career opportunities. An applicant may click a job title to read a full description and then click the Apply Now button to begin the online application process. To start the application, candidates need to set up job profiles with usernames and passwords. Once logged in, candidates may upload resumes or connect applications to LinkedIn profiles. If doing so, applicants should make sure the information in the profiles or resumes matches the qualifications for the jobs applied for. The application also asks several qualification questions, such as “How many years of experience do you have using basic math functions?” and “How many years of experience do you have communicating in verbal and written English in a work environment?” Candidates should read through the questions carefully and provide relevant answers. Before submitting applications, candidates should take the opportunity to look over the information provided to ensure correctness. However, the company allows applicants to edit information even after clicking submit.

Application Status

The retail chain makes checking application statuses easy. A candidate simply needs to log into the job profile by using the username and password created for the application. Once logged in, the applicant may navigate to the My Submissions tab to view information about the jobs applied for. Each completed submission includes a submission status, which clues the candidate in on progress in the hiring process.

Other Information about Nike

Wanting to supercharge athletes and minimize environmental impact, Nike began the Better World initiative. A collection of advanced sustainability programs, Nike Better World uses innovative ideas and industry-leading technologies to move environmental sustainability practices forward while making better athletes at the same time. Flyknit, one of the latest sustainable innovations, uses computer-controlled production bots to weave synthetic fibers into extremely light and flexible materials. The production process generates less waste than typical production techniques and creates breathable, featherweight materials perfect for training or athletic competition. The flexible Flyknit material feels natural and allows athletes to move more freely. To boost visual appeal, Better World invented a waterless dyeing process that infuses fabric with deep dye. The drydye process gives materials vibrant, highly saturated colors and saves over 30 liters of water with every batch. Additional efforts include cleaning, shredding, and liquefying recycled plastics to create woven polyester threads used in performance clothing. The reuse-a-shoe programs grinds old athletic shoes into materials used in cushioning outdoor basketball and tennis courts and surfacing playgrounds, tracks, and gyms.

VOLUNTEER. Specially if you have little to no background in retail/ college degree. Even if you do, VOLUNTEER. TRUST ME. Doing volunteer work shows EXACTLY what they want. Nike is worldwide, i’ve only been affiliated with nike in oregon, that’s where the World HeadQuarters is & one of 3 employee stores in N. America(and the best one). You DON’T NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE PRODUCT OR COMPANY(unless you’re applying for something at HQ, say designer for fly knits) to get a job because you will learn it. Im talking about on a retail level. It’s sometimes good to start from the bottom up. Customer service is #1 to nike.
