Olive Garden Dishwasher: My jobs at Olive Garden were washing dishes and stocking on the shelves. The truck came in, and I would stock the inventory.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Olive Garden Dishwasher: The work environment was good. I had to keep busy. I liked to keep washing dishes, to keep the cooks occupied with their dishes, so the line wouldn’t back up.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Olive Garden Dishwasher: Very busy. Very, very busy. Always customers, busy, people always coming in and out.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Olive Garden Dishwasher: Be clean, make sure you’re on time, answer the questions on time, and be to work on time.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Olive Garden Dishwasher: Did I have transportation, would I be to work on time, and would I get along with people.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Olive Garden Dishwasher: To be on time, to be professional, and to be sure you’re on top of your game.

Olive Garden Dishwasher: At Olive Garden I was a dishwasher, and my primary objective was to clean the dishes, put them through, and make sure they were all clean for customers or waitresses and waiters.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Olive Garden Dishwasher: The work environment at Olive Garden was great. Always working in restaurants, they’re so fun, because it’s so noisy, and everyone just letting it all out in the back. But the reason that I say it was so fun is because working as a dishwasher takes a lot of physical work, and we have a lot of fun trying to see how many dishes we could push through the dishwasher, see how fast we were. But like I said, I really loved working for Olive Garden, because it’s a great restaurant – the food, fun, and family atmosphere and just the people.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Olive Garden Dishwasher: The application and interview process for that position. They were looking for a certain type of person, they were looking for a real go getter, they were looking for people that were down for real physical work. They’re looking for the “yes, sir” or “no, sir” type of people that were really willing to work. So, the application process was looking for foot men, soldieristic type of people, people who really worked. Plus, it was just a regular type of the application process.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Olive Garden Dishwasher: They really wanted to know if I had been a dishwasher before, or if I could handle the load. So in other words, to be a dishwasher, it takes a certain type of person to be a dishwasher. I don’t think someone who is a babysitter could do it. They were looking for real go getter type of people, people who are willing to work.

Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Olive Garden Dishwasher: That I was a go-getter. They were looking for people who could follow easy instructions, if you’re told what to do, could you do it right then and there. They were looking for a laborer type of person.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Olive Garden Dishwasher: It’s a great place. It’s a great place to make money. It’s a fun place. I really had some of my best times working at Olive Garden, and I’ll never forget it. It’s a great place, so I would just tell people to come to work and have fun. Leave all your worries and cares behind, and just enjoy work.
